'미군 규정 따른 휴가' 주장에 "미로남불까지? 참 가관"

(서울=연합뉴스) 나확진 기자 = 국민의힘은 8일 추미애 법무부 장관 아들의 군 복무 시절 특혜 의혹에 대한 특임검사 수사를 강하게 요구하며 공세 수위를 한층 끌어 올렸다.

주호영 원내대표는 이날 국회 교섭단체 대표연설에서 "추 장관은 '소설 쓰네'라는 자신의 말을 입증하기 위해서라도 특임검사나 특별검사 수사를 자청해야 한다"며 "못하겠다면 사임하는 게 맞지 않겠나"라고 했다.

최형두 원내대변인은 YTN 라디오에 출연, "군대를 다녀온 사람들이라면 상상할 수 없는 일들이 계속 나오고 있는데, 8개월째 그냥 수사 중"이라며 "특임검사를 통해 수사를 공정하게 하는 것이 첫 번째"라고 강조했다.

국민의힘은 추 장관이 전날 "사건과 관련해 일체 보고를 받지 않겠다"고 한 데 대해선 의혹 해소 의지가 없다고 일축했고, "미군 규정에 따른 휴가연장"이라는 추 장관 아들 측의 해명에 비판을 쏟아냈다.

김은혜 대변인은 논평에서 "청년들은 1시간만 복귀에 늦어도 '탈영'을 떠올린다"며 "하지만 추 장관 측은 '미군 규정에 따랐다'고 강변하며 휴가 전화 연장 특혜의 본질을 피해간다"고 밝혔다.

그러면서 "소설이 실화가 돼가고 있다"며 추 장관이 직접 진실을 밝힐 것을 촉구했다.

서울 송파병 당협위원장인 김근식 경남대 교수는 페이스북 글에서 "멀쩡한 한국군 휴가 규정을 팽개치고 미군 규정으로 쉴드치는(보호하는) 것"이라며 "미군은 맞고 한국군은 틀리다는 '미로남불' 까지? 참 가관"이라고 했다.

추 장관 아들의 변호를 민주당 현근택 법률위원회 부위원장이 맡은 데 대한 비판도 나왔다.

황규환 부대변인은 "공당의 당직자가 장관 아들 의혹에 대한 변호인을 맡는다는 것은 민주당이 당 차원에서 추 장관 의혹을 변호하겠다는 것"이라며 "그 자체로 수사에 압박으로 작용할 것"이라고 주장했다.

국민의힘은 아울러 관련 수사에 군 검찰도 나설 것을 요구했다.

배준영 대변인은 논평에서 "사안의 90% 이상이 군 내부에서 일어난 일"이라며 "군 검찰이 인지 수사하는 것이 효율적이고 서울동부지검도 군의 협조 없이 사건을 제대로 조사하기 힘들 것"이라고 말했다.

이어 "군 관련 사건을 수수방관하는 정경두 국방부 장관에게도 책임을 묻지 않을 수 없다"고 덧붙였다.

국민의당 이태규 의원은 페이스북에 "추 장관을 두둔하는 여당 의원들의 방어논리가 궤변에 가깝다"면서 "원래 생각 자체가 비뚤어졌거나, 아니면 누군가에게 매번 충성도장을 찍어야 살아남을 수 있는 그들만의 정치풍토 때문일 것"이라고 썼다.
