포항공항 진에어 취항 업무협약

(포항=연합뉴스) 손대성 기자 = 한동안 날개를 접은 경북 포항공항이 다시 날개를 편다.

경북도, 포항시, 경주시는 20일 포항시청에서 한국공항공사, 진에어와 여객기 신규 취항을 위한 업무협약을 맺었다.

협약식에는 이철우 도지사, 이강덕 포항시장, 주낙영 경주시장, 손창완 한국공항공사 사장, 최정호 진에어 대표이사 등이 참석했다.

협약에 따라 진에어는 오는 31일부터 189석 규모의 'B737-800' 여객기를 투입해 포항∼김포 노선과 포항∼제주 노선에 운항한다.

포항∼김포 노선은 하루 1회, 포항∼제주 노선은 하루 2회 왕복 운항한다.

경북도, 포항시, 경주시 등 지방자치단체는 재정지원과 홍보를 맡고 한국공항공사는 착륙료를 감면하며 포항공항 시설을 개선하기로 했다.

지원 예산은 아직 확정되지 않았다.

다만 대한항공에 연간 약 20억원을 지원한 점을 고려해 도와 포항시, 경주시는 모두 합쳐 약 20억원을 지원할 것으로 알려졌다.

진에어는 포항공항 활성화를 위해 공격적인 판촉 행사와 다양한 요금 정책을 펴기로 했다.

대한항공은 포항∼제주 노선에 여객기를 운항했으나 지난 2월 28일부터 운항을 잠정 중단했다.

이철우 도지사는 "지속적인 노력 끝에 잡은 소중한 기회를 잘 활용해 포항공항이 활성화할 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다.
