지난 6월 역대급 무더위에 주택용 전력 판매량 '껑충'

작년보다 8.6% 증가…긴 장마에 7∼8월도 크게 늘지 않을 듯

(서울=연합뉴스) 조재영 기자 = 지난 6월 역대급 무더위가 찾아오면서 주택용 전력 판매량이 작년보다 9% 가까이 늘어난 것으로 나타났다.

8일 한국전력[015760]이 발표한 전력통계속보에 따르면 지난 6월 주택용 전력사용량은 5천931GWh(기가와트시)로, 지난해 6월보다 8.6% 늘었다.

기상청에 따르면 올해 6월 전국 최고기온과 평균기온은 각각 28.0도와 22.8도로, 1973년 관련 통계를 집계한 이래 가장 높았다. 코로나19 여파로 재택근무 등이 늘어난 데다, 이른 무더위로 냉방 수요가 늘면서 전력 판매량도 뛴 것으로 보인다.

작년 동기 대비 주택용 전력사용량 증가율은 올해 2월 2.1%에서 코로나19 사태가 본격화한 3월 9.7%로 확대된 뒤 4월 5.6%, 5월 6.6% 등 증가세를 이어왔다.

전체 전력판매량의 절반 이상을 차지하는 산업용 전력판매용은 작년보다 6.4% 줄어든 2만2천103GWh로 집계됐다.

글로벌 금융위기 직후인 2009년 1월(-11%) 이후 최대 낙폭을 보였던 5월(-9.9%)보다는 감소 폭이 둔화했지만, 넉 달 연속 감소세를 이어갔다.

상점, 사무실 등에 쓰이는 일반용 전력판매량은 9천70 GWh로 2.0% 늘어났다.

이에 따라 6월 총 전력판매량은 1년 전보다 2.1% 감소한 3만9천753GWh로 집계됐다.

통상 더위가 절정에 이르는 7∼8월에는 전력사용량이 늘어나지만, 올여름에는 당초 예상과 달리 긴 장마가 이어지면서 전력사용량이 크게 늘지는 않을 것으로 전망된다.
