폴란드·발트3국, 벨라루스에 EU의 강도높은 제재 요구

(베를린=연합뉴스) 이광빈 특파원 = 폴란드와 발트 3국이 벨라루스의 부정선거 논란과 시위탄압 사태와 관련해 벨라루스 집권세력을 비판하고 유럽연합(EU) 차원에서의 강도 높은 제재를 요구했다.

동쪽으로 벨라루스와 국경을 마주한 이웃 나라 폴란드는 지난 14일(현지시간) 벨라루스 미디어와 학계에 자금 지원을 하고 벨라루스 시민에게 노동시장을 개방하기로 했다.

같은 날 유럽연합(EU) 외무장관 회담에서 벨라루스 사태와 관련해 제재 명단을 준비하기로 결정했지만, 그 직후 마테우시 모라비에츠키 폴란드 총리는 추가 조치가 필요하다고 주장했다.

모라비에츠키 총리는 "지금 무관심과 중립의 가면을 써서는 안 된다"면서 EU의 단합된 조치와 벨라루스 대선의 재선거를 요구했다.

폴란드의 야첵 차포토비치 외무장관은 15일 방위협력 협정에 서명하기 위해 바르샤바를 방문한 마이크 폼페이오 미국 국무장관과 공동성명을 내고 벨라루스 정부가 시민사회와 소통해야 한다고 주장했다.

발트 3국인 리투아니아, 라트비아, 에스토니아의 총리들도 이날 공동 성명을 내고 벨라루스 정부에 평화 시위에 대한 폭력 진압을 자제하고 모든 정치범과 구금된 시위대를 석방하라고 요구했다.

또, 국제 참관단의 감시하에 대선을 다시 치러야 한다고 요구했다.

특히 발트 3국 정상은 EU가 이번 폭력 진압에 책임이 있는 벨라루스 관리들에게 제재를 취하고 벨라루스 시민사회를 지원할 방법과 수단을 찾아야 한다고 촉구했다.
