주한미군, 수도권 코로나19 보건조치 완화…"확진 감소세 고려"

(서울=연합뉴스) 최평천 기자 = 주한미군이 수도권 미군기지의 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 보건 조치를 완화한다.

주한미군 사령부는 7일 "수도권에서 코로나19 확진자가 지속해서 감소하는 상황을 고려해 8월 10일 오후 4시부터 한반도 전역의 공중 보건방호태세(HPCON)를 '브라보'로 유지한다"고 밝혔다.

앞서 미군은 전 세계 미군기지를 대상으로 HPCON '찰리' 유지를 발령했고, 지난 5월 주한미군 제2구역(Area II)인 수도권(서울·인천·성남 등)을 제외한 한국 내 미군기지의 HPCON을 '브라보'로 낮췄다.

당시 이태원 클럽 등에서 국내 코로나19 확진자가 늘어나자 수도권 보건 조치는 완화되지 않았다.

브라보는 찰리보다 한단계 완화된 조치다. 찰리 단계에서는 모임이나 이동이 철저히 통제되지만, 브라보 단계에서는 사회적 거리두기를 준수하는 가운데 불필요한 이동이나 접촉만 제한된다.

한반도 전역의 보건 조치가 완화되지만, 주한미군 장병은 추후 공지가 있을 때까지 기지 밖 클럽·술집을 출입할 수 없다.

주한미군은 한반도 코로나19 상황을 면밀히 예의주시하면서 전파 위험성이 높아질 경우 즉각 보건 조치를 강화할 것이라고 설명했다.

주한미군 관계자는 "주한미군 장병은 현재의 성공적인 방역 수준을 유지하기 위해 핵심적인 보건 수칙을 지켜야 한다"고 강조했다.

한편, 주한미군에서는 한국으로 입국하는 주한미군의 코로나19 확진이 잇따르고 있다. 주한미군 관련 코로나19 누적 확진자는 총 139명이며, 한국에 입국 후 확진 판정을 받은 인원이 115명에 달한다.
