(서울=연합뉴스) 송은경 기자 = 최근 별세한 백선엽 장군에 대해 '우리 민족인 북한을 향해 총을 쐈다. 현충원에 묻히면 안 된다'는 요지로 발언해 논란을 일으킨 노영희 변호사가 15일 사과 후 자신이 진행하는 프로그램에서도 하차했다.

YTN 라디오(94.5㎒) '노영희의 출발 새아침' 진행자인 노 변호사는 이날 자신의 페이스북에 "오늘부로 '출발 새아침'은 그만두기로 했다"고 밝혔다.

그는 "법무법인 서버가 다운되고 직원들이 일을 못하는 상황과 방송사에 대한 공격 등…. 여러가지 이유가 있지만 추후 얘기할 기회가 있을 거라 생각한다"고 덧붙였다.

노 변호사는 앞서 생방송 오프닝에서는 "지난 13일 모 방송(MBN '뉴스와이드')에서 백선엽 장군의 안장과 관련해 했던 발언에 대해 사과드린다"고 밝혔다.

노 변호사는 "(TV) 화면상 백 장군이 동포들을 향해 총을 겨눈 것은 어쩔 수 없다, 그 비판은 어쩔 수 없이 받겠다, 이런 내용의 글이 화면상 게시가 된 상황에서 생방송 도중 발언이 섞이면서 본의 아니게 잘못된 발언이 보도됐다"고 해명했다.

그는 "1960년대에 태어나서 반공교육을 철저히 받고 자랐으며 늘 6.25 참전 용사나 호국영령에 대해 감사한 마음을 받고 살아왔던 제가 다른 뜻으로 발언을 한 것이 아니었고 당연히 다른 뜻을 가지고 있을 수도 없는 것"이라며 "다시 한번 6·25 참전용사나 호국영령분들, 그리고 군 장병에 대한 무한한 감사의 말씀 전한다"고 말했다.

노 변호사는 지난 13일 MBN '뉴스와이드'에 패널로 나와 "(백 장군의 현충원 안장 논란이) 이해가 안 된다. 저분이 6·25 전쟁에서 우리 민족인 북한을 향해 총을 쏘아서 이긴 그 공로가 인정된다고 해서 현충원에 묻히냐"고 비판했다.

그는 이어 "나는 현실적으로 친일파가 더 나쁘다고 생각한다. 대전 현충원에도 묻히면 안 된다고 본다"고 주장해 시청자들 사이에서 논란이 일었다.
