꽃·스파크 일고 3분 30초 만에 불길 확 번져

전기적 요인으로 인한 화재 추정…경찰·소방 화인 조사 중

(고흥=연합뉴스) 천정인 기자 = 30명의 사상자(사망 3명·부상 27명)를 낸 전남 고흥군 윤호21병원 화재 원인이 전기적 요인으로 추정되는 장면이 폐쇄회로(CC)TV에 포착됐다.

10일 전남경찰청이 공개한 화재 당시 CCTV 화면에 따르면 이날 오전 3시 38분께 병원 1층 천장 부분에서 작은 불이 시작되며 연기가 피어올랐다.

불은 20여초 만에 스파크를 내며 천장재를 태우기 시작했고, 불똥이 병원 가구와 바닥으로 떨어지며 불이 옮겨붙었다.

화재 원인으로 전기적 요인이 강하게 추정되는 대목이다.

곧이어 병원 전체에 전기가 차단돼 불길이 일고 있는 곳을 제외하면 내부는 순식간에 암흑으로 변했다.

잠이 오지 않아 병원 1층 내부를 돌아다니던 환자는 '타닥타닥' 튀는 소리가 나는 곳에 가봤다가 갑자기 정전되자 1층에서 잠을 자고 있던 간호사를 깨운 것으로 알려졌다.

병원 1층 복도에 설치된 의자에 누워 잠을 자고 있던 환자 1명도 잠에서 깨 황급히 불이 난 반대 방향으로 대피하는 모습도 CCTV에 고스란히 담겼다.

급박한 상황이었지만 이 환자는 거동이 불편한 듯 이동식 링거 걸이에 의지해 자리를 피했다.

1층에 있었던 환자가 비교적 화재 발생 초기에 불이 난 사실을 알고 병원 직원에게 상황을 알려 그나마 인명 피해를 줄인 것으로 보인다.

한번 불이 붙기 시작한 불은 쉴새 없이 주변으로 옮겨붙으며 3분 30초 만에 걷잡을 수 없이 거세졌다.

그 사이 병원 직원과 의료진들은 소방당국에 신고함과 동시에 비상벨을 울리는 등 내부 상황전파에 나서 환자들을 대피하도록 한 것으로 알려졌다.

경찰과 소방당국은 이러한 CCTV 영상을 확보하고 정확한 화재 원인을 조사 중이다.

이날 발생한 화재로 3명이 숨지고 27명이 중경상을 입었다.
