러시아 "8월부터 자체개발 백신 의료진에 접종 계획"(종합)

보건장관 밝혀…"수백명 대상 3차 임상시험도 병행"

(모스크바=연합뉴스) 유철종 특파원 = 세계적으로 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 백신 개발 경쟁이 치열한 가운데 러시아가 자체 개발한 백신을 8월부터 의료진에 우선 접종할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

임상 2상 시험이 끝난 백신을 일반인 가운데는 처음으로 의료진에 먼저 접종하겠다는 계획으로 보인다.

인테르팍스 통신 등에 따르면 미하일 무라슈코 러시아 보건부 장관은 23일(현지시간) 브리핑에서 "8월부터 위험군, 즉 의료계 종사자들과 감염자들과 자주 접촉하는 사람들을 대상으로 백신 접종 권고가 이루어질 것"이라고 밝혔다.

그는 현재 2상이 진행 중인 백신 임상시험이 끝나고 나면 전문가들이 결과를 평가해 일반 접종에 관한 조건부 허가가 나올 것이라면서 의료진이 첫 일반 접종 대상이 될 것이라고 설명했다.

그는 동시에 백신 종류 당 약 800명을 대상으로 한 3차 임상시험도 병행할 것이라고 덧붙였다.

이어 의료진 등의 고위험군 접종과 3차 임상 시험 결과 등을 토대로 일반인을 위한 대규모 백신 생산과 접종이 이루어질 것이라고 소개했다.

무라슈코는 그러나 일반인에 대한 백신 접종이 언제 가능할지에 대해선 언급하지 않았다.

러시아 당국은 앞서 보건부 산하 '가말레야 국립 전염병·미생물학 센터'가 국방부와 함께 개발한 백신 2종류에 대한 1차 임상 시험이 이달 중순 마무리됐으며, 현재 2차 임상 시험이 진행 중이라고 발표했다.

또 시베리아 노보시비르스크에 있는 국립 바이러스·생명공학 연구센터 '벡토르'도 자체 개발한 백신에 대한 임상시험을 실시할 계획인 것으로 알려졌다.

벡토르는 24일 임상시험 허가를 받았으며, 오는 27일 첫번째 자원자들을 대상으로 1차 임상시험 접종을 시행할 계획이라고 러시아 보건당국이 밝혔다.

미하일 무라슈코 러시아 보건장관은 이날 백신 접종 등을 통한 집단면역이 형성되는 내년 2월까지 코로나19와 관련한 모든 제한이 해제될 것으로 전망했다.

타티야나 골리코바 러시아 부총리는 앞서 지난 15일 러시아가 모두 26종류의 코로나19 백신을 개발하고 있으며 가까운 시일 내에 그것을 사용할 수 있을 것이라고 소개했다.

러시아는 통상 수천~수만 명을 대상으로 한 1~3차 임상 시험 뒤에야 일반인 접종을 시작하는 서방의 관례와는 달리 백신 접종 속도를 앞당기려는 계획인 것으로 보인다.
