(정읍=연합뉴스) 김동철 기자 = 전북 정읍시의회 이복형 의원이 10일 선풍기 150대(525만원 상당)를 정읍시에 기부했다.

이 의원은 "방송을 통해 단칸방에서 선풍기 없이 부채 하나에 의존해 어렵게 생활하는 어르신들의 안타까운 사연을 접했다"며 "어르신들이 건강하고 시원한 여름을 보내시는 데 도움이 되길 바란다"고 배경을 설명했다.

시는 기탁받은 선풍기를 폭염에 취약한 복지 사각지대 대상자, 독거노인 등에 전달할 예정이다.

유진섭 정읍시장은 "신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 장기화로 모두 힘든 시기에 후원한 이 의원께 감사하다"며 "취약계층이 건강하게 여름을 날 수 있도록 신속히 전달하겠다"고 말했다.
