'자폐 시민도 편하게' 이탈리아서 맞춤형 슈퍼마켓

조명 부드럽고 소음 최소화…소통 돕는 직원 배치

(로마=연합뉴스) 전성훈 특파원 = 이탈리아에서 자폐증을 앓는 사람들에게 특화된 슈퍼마켓이 첫선을 보인다.

9일(현지시간) ANSA 통신에 따르면 이탈리아 최대 슈퍼마켓 체인인 COOP이 북부 롬바르디아주 도시 몬차에서 자폐증 시민을 위한 슈퍼마켓을 10일 개점한다.

이 마켓은 자폐증 시민의 예민한 감각을 고려해 조명을 부드럽게 바꾸고 소음도 최소한으로 줄였다.

이들의 인지 능력을 고려해 필요한 상품을 손쉽게 찾고 계산대까지 갈 수 있도록 슈퍼마켓 복도마다 안내 그래픽을 새겨넣는 한편 이들과 잘 소통할 수 있도록 특별 교육을 받은 직원들도 배치했다.

마켓 내에서는 입구부터 출구까지 자폐 시민이 최우선으로 응대받게 된다.

COOP은 국내 자폐 환자 지원단체와 협력해 슈퍼마켓 개점을 준비했다고 한다.

COOP 롬바르디아주 지역본부의 알프레도 데 벨리스 부회장은 "자폐 시민을 위한 슈퍼마켓은 이탈리아에선 처음이며 아마 유럽에서도 첫 시도일 것"이라며 "향후 이 모델을 주내 모든 체인으로 확대할 것"이라고 말했다.

이탈리아에서는 신생아 70명 가운데 1명이 자폐 증세를 앓는 것으로 알려져있다.
