230만원대 가격…갤럭시Z폴드2 톰브라운 에디션 400만원 안팎 예상

(서울=연합뉴스) 채새롬 기자 = 삼성전자[005930]는 5일 온라인으로 열린 '삼성 갤럭시 언팩 2020'에서 플래그십 스마트폰 '갤럭시노트20'와 함께 3번째 폴더블폰인 '갤럭시Z폴드2'를 공개했다.

이 제품은 작년 첫 폴더블폰인 '갤럭시폴드'의 후속작이다.

삼성전자는 상반기 출시된 갤럭시Z플립과의 브랜드 통일성을 강조하려는 차원에서 후속작을 '갤럭시폴드2' 대신 '갤럭시Z폴드2'로 명명했다.

갤럭시Z폴드2의 가장 큰 특징은 접었을 때 디스플레이 크기가 6.2인치, 펼쳤을 때 7.6인치로 커졌다는 것이다.

전작인 갤럭시폴드는 접었을 때 4.6인치, 펼쳤을 때 7.3인치였다.

기존 갤럭시폴드의 커버 디스플레이는 좁고 긴 형태인 데다 화면을 제외한 베젤도 너무 커 어색하다는 평가가 있었는데 이 같은 사용자 피드백을 반영한 것이다.

이에 따라 폴더블폰을 접었을 때도 일반 스마트폰처럼 화면을 꽉 채워 이용할 수 있게 됐다.

펼쳤을 때도 전작에서는 화면 우측 상단에 노치(센서가 탑재된 화면 윗부분이 패인 형태)가 존재했으나, 신제품은 카메라 구멍 하나를 남기고 디스플레이로 전면을 채워 화면 활용도를 높였다.

기존 갤럭시폴드는 플라스틱 소재를 겹겹이 쌓은 디스플레이를 탑재했지만, 갤럭시Z폴드2는 갤럭시Z플립과 마찬가지로 접히는 초박형유리(UTG)를 써 디스플레이 내구성을 높였다.

갤럭시Z플립에서 처음 선보였던 '하이드어웨이(Hideaway)' 힌지(접히는 부분)와 진화한 스위퍼 기술도 적용됐다.

스위퍼 기술이란 외부 먼지와 이물집 유입으로부터 힌지와 단말을 보호하는 기술이다. 삼성전자는 나일론 섬유를 좁은 틈새에 적용해 스위퍼 구조를 만들었다.

갤럭시Z폴드2는 미스틱 브론즈, 미스틱 블랙 등 2가지 색상으로 출시된다.

이날 언팩 행사에서는 갤럭시Z폴드2의 크기, 무게, 배터리, 카메라 등 나머지 세부 사양은 공개되지 않았으나 기본 사양은 전작과 큰 차이가 없을 것으로 전망된다.

다만 전작에는 1천600만 화소 초광각 ·1천200만 화소 광각·1천200만 화소 망원 카메라가 탑재됐으나, 갤럭시Z폴드2에는 6천400만 화소 망원·1천200만 화소 광각·1천200만 화소 초광각 카메라가 적용된 것으로 알려졌다.

삼성전자는 갤럭시Z폴드2의 세부사양과 출시 일정. 가격 등을 9월 중 발표할 예정이다.

국내에는 9월 중순께 출시되고, 가격은 전작(239만8천원)과 같거나 더욱 저렴해질 것으로 예상돼 230만원대에서 결정될 것이 유력하다.

삼성전자는 갤럭시Z플립에 이어 명품브랜드인 톰브라운과 협업한 프리미엄 패키지인 '갤럭시Z폴드2 톰브라운 에디션'을 함께 발매해 '한정판 수요'도 노린다.

이 에디션은 제품에 톰브라운 시그니처 색상과 디자인을 결합한 것으로, 갤럭시Z폴드2와 갤럭시워치3, 갤럭시 버즈 라이브 등으로 구성될 것으로 보인다. 가격은 400만원 안팎으로 예상된다.
