(제네바=연합뉴스) 임은진 특파원 = 세계보건기구(WHO) 평양 사무소는 최근 월북한 탈북민이 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 검사를 받았지만 결론에 이르지 못했다고 전했다.

에드윈 살바도르 WHO 평양소장은 5일(현지시간) 로이터 통신에 보낸 이메일에서 "그 사람은 코로나19 검사를 받았지만, 검사 결과는 결론에 이르지 못했다(inconclusive)"고 밝혔다.

그는 월북자의 1차 접촉자로 64명, 2차 접촉자로 3천571명이 확인돼 정부 시설에서 40일 동안 격리됐다고 알렸다.

또 확진 사례가 없음에도 북한이 광범위한 봉쇄 조처와 접촉자 추적을 했다고 말했다.

아울러 탈북민이 도착한 곳으로 알려진 개성시는 여전히 봉쇄 중이고, 가정의들이 감시 활동을 계속하고 있다고 덧붙였다.

앞서 북한 조선중앙통신은 지난달 26일 "개성시에서 악성비루스(코로나19)에 감염된 것으로 의심되는 월남 도주자가 3년 만에 불법적으로 분계선을 넘어 7월 19일 귀향하는 비상 사건이 발생했다"고 보도했다.

이에 대해 우리 방역 당국은 지난달 30일 "월북자의 소지품인 의류 등 16점에 대한 환경 검체 검사 결과, 검체 모두 코로나19 바이러스가 검출되지 않았다"고 밝혔다.
