WHO "15일 세계 코로나19 하루 확진자 29만4천명…역대 최대"

(로마=연합뉴스) 전성훈 특파원 = 전 세계 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산세가 악화일로다.

dpa 통신 등에 따르면 세계보건기구는 15일(현지시간) 기준으로 코로나19 하루 신규 확진자 수가 29만4천명으로 역대 최대 기록을 경신했다고 밝혔다.

기존 최대 기록은 지난달 31일의 29만2천명이었다.

국제실시간통계사이트 '월드오미터'를 보면 16일 현재 전 세계 누적 확진자 수는 2천164만2천여명, 사망자 수는 76만9천여명이다.

국가별 누적 확진자 수는 미국이 553만1천여명으로 가장 많고 브라질 331만7천여명, 인도 259만4천여명, 러시아 92만2천여명, 남아프리카공화국 58만3천여명 등의 순이다.

상위 1∼3위인 미국·브라질·인도의 경우 지난 일주일간 신규 확진자 수가 각각 10만명 이상 발생하는 등 상황이 좀처럼 진정되지 않고 있다.
