KLM, 코로나19로 5천명 인력 감축 예정

(브뤼셀=연합뉴스) 김정은 특파원 = 네덜란드 항공사 KLM이 31일(현지시간) 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산에 따른 영향으로 4천500∼5천개 일자리를 감축할 것이라고 밝혔다고 AP 통신 등이 전했다.

KLM은 이날 성명을 통해 현재 3만3천명의 인력 가운데 1천500명을 해고할 것이라고 밝혔다. 또 1천500명의 임시직 계약을 갱신하지 않고, 2천명은 명예퇴직을 통해 감원할 것이라고 덧붙였다.

KLM은 감원은 2021년 말까지 이뤄질 예정이며, 네덜란드 정부의 구제금융에도 불구하고 대규모 손실을 본 데 따른 것이라고 밝혔다.

KLM은 2023년이나 2024년 전에는 수요가 완전히 회복될 것으로 예상하지 않는다면서 불확실성이 높은 상황을 고려하면 추가적인 감원 가능성도 있다고 설명했다.

KLM은 전날 올해 상반기에 7억6천800만 유로(약 1조834억원)의 유례없는 손실을 기록하고, 2분기 승객수는 95% 감소했다고 보고했다.
