EU "존슨앤드존슨과 코로나19 백신 구매 위한 예비논의 마쳐"

(브뤼셀=연합뉴스) 김정은 특파원 = 유럽연합(EU) 행정부 격인 집행위원회가 13일(현지시간) 미국 제약사 존슨앤드존슨이 개발 중인 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 백신 구매를 위한 예비 논의를 마쳤다고 밝혔다고 로이터 통신이 전했다.

EU 집행위는 이번 논의는 사전 구매 합의에 이르기 위한 것으로, 계약이 이뤄진다면 모든 EU 회원국이 백신을 구매하고, 소득이 낮은 국가에 기부할 수 있는 가능성을 제공하게 될 것이라고 밝혔다.

EU 집행위는 또 백신이 안전하고 코로나19에 효과가 있는 것으로 증명되면, 집행위가 모든 EU 회원국을 대신해 2억회 투여분의 초기 구매를 위한 계약상의 합의가 마련되도록 하고 최대 2억회의 추가분을 더 구매할 수 있을 것으로 예상된다고 덧붙였다.

EU 집행위는 다른 백신 제조사들과도 집중적인 논의를 하고 있다고 했다.
