용인 우리제일교회 집단감염 왜?…"성가대·교회 식당 주목"(종합)

지난 9일 예배 참석 신도 11일 첫 확진 후 나흘간 72명으로 급증

"찬양하는 동안 마스크 벗어"…성가대 신도만 25명 감염

현재 교회 신도들에 대한 검사가 계속 진행 중이고, 확진자들의 가족과 지인 등 접촉자는 아직 제대로 파악도 안 된 상태여서 확진자가 얼마나 늘어날지 가늠할 수 없기 때문이다.

지금까지 용인 지역 내 단일 집단에서의 최다 코로나19 확진자 발생 사태여서 시 방역당국은 감염 원인 파악에 주력하고 있다.

올해로 설립 30주년을 맞는 우리제일교회는 신도 수가 1천100명가량 되는 중견 교회다.

중앙방역대책본부는 14일 12시 기준으로 우리제일교회에서 60명이 추가로 양성판정을 받아 누적 확진자가 나흘간 총 72명이라고 밝혔다.

이 가운데 교회 관련이 70명, 이들로 인한 추가 전파 사례가 2명이다.

60명은 13일 정오부터 하루 동안 발생한 확진자 수치다. 방대본은 매일 정오를 기준으로 다음날 12시까지 확진자수를 발표하고 있다.

앞서 방대본에서는 지난 11∼12일 우리제일교회에서 확진자가 나온 이후 교인과 접촉자에 대한 검사 결과 9명이 양성 판정을 받아 누적 확진자는 12명으로 늘었다고 13일 오후 발표한 바 있다.

매일 확진자 수를 집계한 용인시의 통계와 방대본의 발표내용을 살펴보면 교회 확진자가 13일부터 급격하게 증가한 것을 알 수 있다.

용인시에서는 11일 1명, 12일 4명, 13일 20명, 14일 34명 등 총 59명이 확진된 것으로 파악하고 있다.

이는 시 방역당국이 감염원인으로 주목한 성가대 신도들을 우선 검사한 데 따른 결과로 분석된다.

시방역당국은 최초 확진자가 성가대에서 활동한 것을 확인하고 12일부터 성가대 신도 68명을 먼저 검체검사를 했다. 이 가운데 25명의 확진자가 이틀 동안 연달아 나왔다.

교회 신도 확진자 70명의 35.7%를 차지하는 수치다.

교회 측도 성가대에서 확진자가 다수 발생한 점을 인정하고 있다.

교회 관계자는 "코로나19 확산을 막기 위해 성가대에서도 신도들이 일정한 거리를 두고 찬양했고, 찬양하는 동안은 마스크를 벗었지만, 찬양이 끝나면 다시 마스크를 쓰는 등 나름 조심한다고 했다"면서 "그런데도 확진자가 나와 신도들과 지역 주민들에게 죄송하다"고 말했다.

마스크를 벗고 노래를 할 경우 대화를 할 때보다 바이러스가 좀 더 멀리 퍼질 수 있어 거리두기를 했음에도 감염이 일어날 수밖에 없었다는 분석도 나온다.

성가대뿐 아니라 9일 예배 후 교회 식당에서 확진자를 포함한 교회 관계자들이 식사를 함께한 것도 감염원인 중 하나로 지적된다.

그러나 식당 이용자 가운데 몇 명이나 확진됐는지는 아직 파악되지 않았다.

교회 측은 "전국에서 코로나19 발병 이후 지난 2월부터 우리 교회에서는 식당 운영을 하지 않고 있다가 그날(9일) 처음으로 교회 주차요원들과 봉사자, 목사, 부목사, 집사들끼리 밥을 먹었는데, 결과가 이렇게 돼서 너무 안타깝고 드릴 말씀이 없다"고 밝혔다.

시 방역당국은 집단 감염 확산을 막기 위해 우리제일교회를 오는 28일까지 폐쇄 조치하고 지역 내 754개 종교시설에 대해 전수조사에 나섰다.
