(서울=연합뉴스) 정성조 기자 = 서울 도심에서 전날 강행된 대규모 집회 과정에서 참가자가 경찰의 과잉진압으로 사망했다는 등의 소문이 보수·극우 유튜브를 중심으로 퍼지자 경찰이 16일 '사실무근'이라는 조사 결과를 거듭 밝혔다.

서울 종로경찰서는 "15일 집회 중 발생한 경찰버스 후진 교통사고 의심 사건 피해자는 경찰 조사에서 '다친 사실이 없다'고 진술했다"며 "병원 진료를 거부해 치료를 받지 않았다"고 설명했다.

경찰 관계자는 "해당 버스의 블랙박스 영상을 분석한 결과 차량 운전에 의한 움직임이 나타나지 않았다"며 "교통사고가 없었던 것으로 판단해 내사 종결할 예정"이라고 덧붙였다.

유튜브 채널 '신의한수' 등은 전날 집회에서 집회금지구역을 둘러싸고 주차된 경찰버스들의 사이에 한 남성이 끼어있는 모습 등을 전하며, 이 남성이 경찰의 과잉진압으로 압사했다고 주장했다.

경찰은 관련 질의에 "사실무근"이라고 확인했으나 유사한 내용은 다른 보수·극우 유튜브 채널 등으로 삽시간에 퍼졌다.
