카카오페이지, 영화·드라마 제작사 '크로스픽쳐스' 인수

(서울=연합뉴스) 홍지인 기자 = 카카오페이지는 영화·드라마 제작사 '크로스픽쳐스'를 인수했다고 14일 밝혔다.

카카오페이지는 58억8천만원을 들여 크로스픽쳐스의 지분 49%를 확보했다.

크로스픽쳐스는 2003년 미국 법인 설립을 시작으로 한국·인도·일본·중국·미국 등에서 약 50여개 콘텐츠 프로젝트를 추진했다.

국내에서는 드라마 '마음의 소리', '치즈인더트랩', '닥터진', 영화 '시선'을, 해외에서는 영화 '수상한 그녀'의 인도 리메이크 버전과 중국 영화 '용의자 X의 헌신' 등을 제작했다.

앞으로 두 회사는 기획 단계에서부터 글로벌 시장을 겨냥한 영상을 제작할 계획이다.

카카오페이지 이진수 대표는 "카카오페이지가 지적재산(IP) 중심의 스토리엔터테인먼트 사업을 펼쳐 나가는 데 있어 크로스픽쳐스는 글로벌 제작 역량을 갖춘 중요한 파트너"라며 "글로벌을 사로잡을 '슈퍼IP'를 만들어나갈 것"이라고 말했다.

크로스픽쳐스 김현우 대표는 "그동안 해외에서 활동하며 글로벌 제작을 표방해왔기 때문에 카카오페이지가 보유한 슈퍼 IP를 글로벌에 진출시키는데 크로스픽쳐스가 의미 있는 역할을 할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다"고 말했다.
