벨라루스 대선 불복 시위 엿새째 지속…야권, 재선거 등 요구(종합)

대기업 근로자들 파업하고 시위 가담…"민스크 시내 수천명 이상 집결"

야권 대선후보 "정권 이양 추진" 밝혀…경찰 "체포 시위 가담자 2천명 석방"

(모스크바=연합뉴스) 유철종 특파원 = 옛 소련에서 독립한 동유럽 소국 벨라루스에서 14일(현지시간) 장기집권 중인 알렉산드르 루카셴코 대통령의 최근 대선 승리와 6기 집권에 항의하는 시민들의 시위가 엿새째 이어졌다.

야권은 부정선거 결과를 취소하고 재선거를 실시하거나, 평화로운 정권 이양을 추진할 것을 촉구했다.

타스, 인테르팍스 통신 등에 따르면 대선 당일인 지난 9일부터 수도 민스크를 포함한 여러 도시에서 시작된 저항 시위가 이날에도 이어졌다.

민스크에선 이날 오후 학교 교사들이 길거리로 나와 시위를 벌였다.

교사들은 '우리는 정직한 교사들이다', '우리는 평화적인 사람들이다', '무엇 때문에 우리를 폭행하는가' 등의 문구가 적힌 플래카드를 들고 거리를 행진했다.

지나던 일부 행인들도 시위에 가세했고, 자동차 운전자들은 경적을 울려 지지를 표시했다.

민스크에 있는 '민스크자동차공장', '민스크트랙터공장' 등 대규모 사업체 근로자들도 집회를 열거나 파업을 벌이며 선거 부정과 경찰의 폭력적 시위대 진압에 항의를 표시했다.

저녁 무렵이 되면서 파업 중인 '민스크트랙터공장' 근로자들을 포함한 시위대가 정부 청사와 중앙선거관리위원회가 있는 시내 독립광장에 집결했다.

이들은 "정부는 답하라", "나오라" 등의 구호를 외쳤다.

시위대는 대선 투표 결과 재검표와 루카셴코 대통령 퇴진 등을 요구했다.

타스 통신은 시위대 규모가 수천명이라고 전했고, 일부 언론은 1만명 이상이라고 보도했다.

내무군은 정부 청사 주위를 둘러싸고 경비에 들어갔다. 민스크 외곽에 주둔하고 있던 군인들이 시내로 이동했다는 보도도 나왔다.

타스 통신은 동시에 시내 독립공장에 배치된 일부 진압경찰이 시위대에 대한 연대 표시로 방패를 내렸다고 전했다.

벨라루스 중앙선거관리위원회는 이에 앞서 이날 대선 최종 개표 결과를 발표하면서 루카셴코 대통령이 80.1%의 득표율로 당선됐다고 밝혔다.

2위를 차지한 여성 야권 후보 스베틀라나 티하놉스카야는 10.12%를 득표한 것으로 집계됐다.

전직 교사 출신인 티하놉스카야는 대선 출마를 준비하다 당국에 체포된 반정부 성향의 유명 블로거 세르게이 티하놉스키의 아내로 남편을 대신해 출마했었다.

현재 리투아니아 수도 빌뉴스에 머물고 있는 티하놉스카야는 이날 민스크의 선거운동본부를 통해 발표한 성명에서 자신이 60~70%의 득표율로 승리했다고 거듭 주장했다.

그는 "현재 벨라루스에서 벌어지고 있는 일과 법치 회복을 위한 조속한 조치 필요성을 고려해 나는 권력 이양을 위한 조정위원회 창설을 추진할 것"이라면서 현 정권과도 대화할 준비가 돼 있다고 밝혔다.

티하놉스카야는 앞서 당국의 압박으로 리투아니아로 출국한 것으로 전해졌다.

반면 이번 대선에 앞서 후보 등록이 거부됐던 다른 야권 인사 빅토르 바바리코의 선거운동본부는 9월 15일 이전에 재선거를 실시해야 한다고 요구했다.

바바리코 측은 중앙선관위를 포함한 모든 선관위를 새로 구성하고, 국제참관단과 CCTV의 감시하에 재선거를 실시하고 개표도 공개적으로 진행하자고 제안했다.

벨라루스의 대선 불복 시위는 지난 9일 선거에서 1994년부터 철권통치로 장기집권을 지속해오고 있는 루카셴코 대통령이 80% 이상의 압도적 득표율로 6기 집권에 성공했다는 잠정 개표 결과가 알려진 뒤부터 날마다 계속되고 있다.

시위는 이후 경찰의 강경 진압과 참가자 폭행 및 무더기 체포 등에 분노한 시민들이 가세하면서 더욱 격화됐다.

시위 과정에서 지금까지 6천명 이상이 체포되고, 수백명이 부상했으며 2명이 숨진 것으로 알려졌다.

시민들의 저항이 갈수록 거세지자 경찰은 전날 진압과정에서 시위에 참여하지 않은 일반인들이 부상한 데 대해 사과하고, 일부 시위 참가자들을 석방하기 시작했다.

내무부는 이날 시위 가담자 2천명 이상이 석방됐으며 계속 석방되고 있다고 밝혔다.
