윤건영, 반기문에 "왜 광복절에 백선엽 말해 국론분열 부추기나"

(서울=연합뉴스) 이보배 기자 = 더불어민주당 윤건영 의원은 15일 문재인 정부를 비판한 반기문 전 유엔 사무총장을 향해 "다른 날도 아닌 광복절 친일 행적 논란이 있는 백선엽 장군을 언급한 것이야말로 국론 분열을 부추기는 것"이라고 비판했다.

윤 의원은 페이스북을 통해 "여러 영역에서 오래 활동했던 국가 원로의 깊은 혜안은 우리 사회에 진한 울림을 주지만, 정치적 목적을 뒤에 숨긴 발언들은 반 전 총장이 말한 국민적 분열과 사회적 갈등을 부추길 뿐"이라며 이같이 말했다.

윤 의원은 "더욱이 3년 전에 불과 3주 만에 국가 통합의 꿈을 접겠다고 물러섰던 분이, 정부가 우리 사회의 개혁과 발전을 위해 노력해 온 지난 3년간은 특별한 말씀이 없다가 최근 들어 정부 비판 목소리를 높이는 것도 죄송하지만 잘 이해하기 어렵다"고 했다.

이어 "오히려 정부를 비판하면서 동시에 개헌을 말하는 것이야말로 대한민국을 위한 순수한 충정으로만 받아들이기 어려울 것"이라고 했다.

윤 의원은 "최소한 광복절인 오늘 친일 의혹 인사에 대해 걱정하는 것은 역사 인식의 문제"라며 "문재인 정부의 노력이 사회적 논란이 있는 인물 한 분에 대한 정치적 논쟁으로 인해 가려지는 것이야말로 진정한 국가 원로가 안타까워해 주셔야 할 일"이라고 지적했다.

반 전 총장은 이날 광복절 성명을 통해 "이념편향·진영 중심의 국정운영으로 정부에 대한 불신이 쌓였고 이에 따른 국민적 분열과 사회적 갈등이 국력을 하나로 모으지 못하고 있다. 국가 지도자들이 당장의 정치적 이득에 얽매여 이념과 진영논리에 따른 지지 세력 구축에만 집착하고 있다는 지적을 겸허히 숙고해보기 바란다"고 밝혔다.
