뉴욕증시, 美 부양책 협상 주시 혼조 출발

(뉴욕=연합뉴스) 오진우 연합인포맥스 특파원 = 뉴욕증시에서 주요 지수는 4일 미국의 신규 부양책 협상 및 핵심 기술기업 주가 움직임을 주시하는 가운데 혼조세로 출발했다.

오전 10시 4분(미 동부 시각) 현재 뉴욕증권거래소(NYSE)에서 다우존스 30 산업평균지수는 전장보다 3.73포인트(0.01%) 하락한 26,660.67에 거래됐다.

스탠더드앤드푸어스(S&P) 500 지수는 전장보다 0.18포인트(0.01%) 내린 3,294.43에 거래됐지만, 기술주 중심의 나스닥 지수는 15.14포인트(0.14%) 상승한 10,917.93에 거래됐다.

시장은 미국 부양책 협상과 핵심 기술기업 주가 동향 및 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산 상황 등을 주시했다.

미 정부와 민주당은 전일 회동에서도 실업 보험 지원 등 핵심 사인에 대한 합의를 도출하지 못했다.

스티븐 므누신 재무장관과 낸시 펠로시 하원의장(민주당) 등은 건설적인 논의를 했다면서도, 여전히 해결해야 할 문제들이 많이 남아 있다는 입장을 밝혔다.

협상이 길어진다면 일종의 재정절벽으로 인해 경제 회복이 차질을 빚을 것이라는 우려있다.

최근 증시의 강세를 이끌었던 주요 기술기업 주가도 이날은 다소 주춤한 상황이다.

전일 5% 이상 급등했던 마이크로소프트(MS) 주가는 이날 개장전 거래에서는 1%가량 하락세를 나타냈다.

최근 가파르게 상승한 데 따른 속도 조절 움직임이 나타나는 상황으로 풀이된다.

미국과 중국의 갈등도 불확실성을 키우는 요인이다.

도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령은 중국 소셜미디어 틱톡을 MS 등이 인수할 수 있는 기한을 다음 달 15일까지로 제시했다. 틱톡을 당장 퇴출할 것 같았던 것과 비하면 다소 나은 상황이지만, 중국은 강력히 반발하고 있다.

왕원빈(汪文斌) 중국 외교부 대변인은 "틱톡이 미국의 법률을 준수하고 있다"면서 "날조된 죄명으로 압박하는 것은 완전히 정치적 꼼수"라고 지적했다.

왕 대변인은 "미국은 판도라의 상자를 열지 말아야 한다"면서 "그렇지 않으면 자업자득의 결과를 얻게 될 것"이라고 경고했다.

글로벌타임스 등 중국 관영 매체들은 미국을 '불량국가'라고 하는 등 험악한 비난을 쏟아냈다.

반면 미국의 코로나19 상황이 다소 개선될 조짐을 보이는 점은 안도감을 제공하는 요인이다.

존스홉킨스대학의 집계에 따르면 미국의 코로나19 신규 확진자 수는 전일까지 이틀 동안 하루 5만 명 선을 하회한 것으로 나타났다.

뉴욕 증시 전문가들은 미국의 코로나19 진정에 대한 조심스러운 기대를 표했다.

소시에테제네랄의 파하드 카말 시장 전략가는 "하루의 수치는 큰 의미가 없다"면서도 "신규 감염 둔화가 추세의 시작인지를 지켜보고 있다"고 말했다.

유럽 주요국 증시는 혼조세다. 범유럽지수인 Stoxx 600지수는 0.26% 내렸다.

국제유가는 하락세다. 9월물 서부텍사스산 원유(WTI) 가격은 전 거래일보다 0.66% 내린 40.74달러에, 브렌트유는 0.79% 하락한 43.80달러에 움직였다.
