(상하이=연합뉴스) 차대운 특파원 = 왕이(王毅) 중국 외교 담당 국무위원 겸 외교부장의 이례적인 티베트(시짱<西藏>)자치구 시찰이 국경 분쟁 상대인 인도에 보낸 강경 메시지라는 분석이 나왔다.

홍콩 사우스차이나모닝포스트(SCMP)는 17일 왕 국무위원의 최근 티베트 시찰 행보를 분석한 기사에서 그의 이례적인 티베트 방문이 3개월째 이어지는 중국과 인도의 국경 군사 갈등의 해결 기미가 보이지 않는 가운데 이뤄졌다는 점에 주목했다.

신문은 "비록 중국 외교부가 지난 토요일 발표한 간결한 성명에서 인도를 거명하지 않았지만, 중국 분석가들은 왕이의 국경 지역 시찰을 이례적이고 상징적인 행위로 묘사하고 있다"고 전했다.

중국 외교부는 지난 15일 인터넷 홈페이지에 올린 성명에서 왕 부장이 전날 티베트를 시찰했다고 전하면서 그가 '티베트 국경 지역'도 돌아봤다고 언급했다. 성명 전체에서 '인도'라는 단어는 한 번도 들어가지 않았다.

비록 구체적으로 거론하지 않았지만, 티베트의 국경은 대부분 인도와 마주하고 있다.

지난 6월 접경인 히말라야산맥의 갈완 계곡에서 양국 군의 충돌로 인도군 20명이 사망한 이후 인도 정부는 틱톡 등 중국의 애플리케이션 사용을 금지하는 등의 대중 경제 보복을 가했고 중국에 맞서 군사력을 적극적으로 확충하겠다는 의지를 천명했다.

난징대학의 정치학자인 구쑤는 SCMP에 "접경 지역 방문을 통해 왕 국무위원은 국내외 청중들에게 분쟁 국경 지역에서 중국의 주권을 강조한다는 중요한 메시지를 보냈다"고 지적했다.

상하이국제문제연구센터의 인도 전문가인 왕더화는 "중국은 명백히 인도와 전쟁을 원하지 않지만 우리는 모든 종류의 시나리오에 대비해야 한다"며 "왕 국무위원이 티베트에서 한 것이 바로 그런 것"이라고 말했다.
