(서울=연합뉴스) 조민정 기자 = 더불어민주당 소병훈 의원은 3일 전세 제도에 대해 "왜 이게 대한민국에만 있어야 하고 몇몇 나라에만 있어야 하나. 왜 그 문제로 서민들이 고통을 받아야 하는지 의문"이라고 말했다.

소 의원은 이날 국회 국토위 전체회의에서 한국토지주택공사(LH) 변창흠 사장에게 "전세제도가 있는 나라가 전 세계에서 몇이나 되느냐"고 물은 뒤 이같이 말했다.

그는 "전세에서 월세로 전환될 때 적절한 비율만 된다면 월세는 아무런 문제가 없는 제도"라며 "전세에 들어갈 돈이 없으면 금융기관에서 대출을 받아야 하고 금융기관 이자를 낼 것 아니냐"고 말했다.

금융기관에서 받는 전세 대출 이자와 월세가 비슷하다면 전세제도가 월세로 대체 되도 문제가 없을 것이라는 취지로 풀이된다.

소 의원은 앞서 "시세차익은 범죄", "행복권을 빼앗은 도둑" 등의 발언으로 논란이 됐고 이후 페이스북을 통해 "주택시장을 교란하는 투기꾼들을 형사범으로 처벌해야 한다는 발언을 했는데 내용이 잘못됐느냐"고 반박했다.

그는 이날 회의에서는 "치고 빠지는 수법으로 시세차익을 노리고 반복적으로 집을 사고파는 사람을 겨냥한 것으로 선량하게 재산을 증식하고 주택을 보유하는 분들은 제가 한 말과 절대 관계없다"며 "혹시라도 상처를 받으셨다면 정중하게 사과한다"고 고개를 숙였다.
