(울산=연합뉴스) 장영은 기자 = 울산시는 울산장애인부모회 주관으로 3일부터 21일까지 장애아동을 위한 2020 울산 달팽이 학교를 운영한다고 밝혔다.

장애아동 51명이 달팽이 학교에 참여해 체육과 미술, 놀이, 체험활동, 사회성 향상 등을 배운다.

교육은 '레드몽스포츠클럽' 등 6개 민간기관이 맡아 기관별로 10일간 다양한 프로그램을 진행한다.

달팽이 학교는 코로나19로 인해 입학식을 생략하는 등 예년보다 프로그램 운영 기간 등을 축소했다.

이해경 울산장애인부모회 회장은 "코로나19로 장애아동 계절 학교 운영 기간이 짧아져 안타깝지만 모든 참여자가 안전하고 즐겁게 참여할 수 있는 달팽이 학교가 될 수 있도록 방역 등 예방 활동에 온 힘을 쏟겠다"고 말했다.

달팽이 학교는 지역사회 공간을 활용해 방학 동안 가정에 있는 장애 학생을 위해 활기차고 효율적인 교육의 기회를 제공하기 위해 마련된다.

2006년 여름방학부터 개설된 뒤 30차례 6천550여 명이 교육받았다.

시 관계자는 "코로나19로 조금 더 힘든 시간을 보내고 있을 장애아동을 위해 달팽이 학교가 소규모라도 운영될 수 있어 다행"이라며 "짧은 기간이지만 즐겁게 교육에 참여할 수 있길 바란다"고 말했다.
