또 밤사이 열대야가 관측되면서 잠 못 이루는 밤이 이어졌다.

제주지방기상청은 이날 북태평양고기압의 가장자리를 따라 고온다습한 남풍류가 지속해서 유입되면서 낮 기온이 33도 이상 오르고, 대기 불안정과 열대저압부로 변한 태풍 '하구핏' 영향으로 인해 제주 산지와 남부 지역을 중심으로 소나기가 내리고 그 밖의 지역에는 빗방울이 떨어지는 곳이 있겠다고 예보했다.

제주 산지와 남부지역의 예상 강수량은 5∼40㎜다.

이날 아침 최저기온은 26∼27도, 낮 최고기온은 29∼34도로 예상된다.

제주에서는 9일 연속 열대야가 기승을 부렸다.

기상청에 따르면 전날 오후 6시부터 이날 오전 6시까지 제주(북부)의 최저기온이 28.1도, 서귀포(남부) 26.9도, 성산(동부) 26.1도, 고산(서부) 27.2도를 각각 기록하는 등 밤사이 열대야 현상이 나타났다.

열대야는 전날 오후 6시부터 이튿날 오전 9시까지 최저기온이 25도 밑으로 떨어지지 않는 현상을 말한다. 기온이 25도를 넘으면 사람이 쉽게 잠들기 어려워 더위를 나타내는 지표로 사용된다.

제주에서는 지난달 27일에서 28일로 넘어가는 밤사이 열대야가 발생한 뒤 아흐레째 이어지고 있다.

올여름 지점별 열대야 발생일수는 제주 10일, 서귀포 7일, 고산 7일, 성산 6일 등이다.

산지를 제외한 제주도 전역에 폭염 특보가 발효 중이다.

기상청 관계자는 "고온다습한 바람이 남쪽으로부터 유입되고 낮 동안에 강한 햇볕이 가해지면서 무더위기 이어지겠다"며 "건강관리와 농업, 축산업, 산업 등의 피해가 없도록 각별히 유의해야 한다"고 당부했다.
