(서울=연합뉴스) 계승현 기자 = 아리바이오는 알츠하이머병 치료 후보 물질 'AR1001'의 신경세포 사멸 억제에 관한 특허를 미국, 중국, 일본, 한국 등 4개국에 등록했다고 3일 밝혔다. 유럽에 특허를 등록하는 방안을 추진 중이다.

또 AR1001의 다중기전(multi-mechanism)에 대한 국제특허를 출원하는 것도 검토 중이다. 올해 미국, 유럽 등 8개국에 진입한 후 특허권을 확보해 후보 물질의 다중기전 전략에 대한 글로벌 독점권을 확보할 예정이다.

알츠하이머는 복잡한 난치병이기에 한 가지 기전만으로 치료하기 어려운데, AR1001은 CREB 신경전달체계, 윈트(Wnt) 전달체계, 오토파지를 모두 활성화하는 다중기전을 사용한다고 회사 측은 설명했다.
