日 아베 '벚꽃 모임' 의혹 수사 촉구 고발인 279명 추가 합류

(도쿄=연합뉴스) 박세진 특파원 = 아베 신조(安倍晋三) 일본 총리의 지역구 유권자에 대한 향응 제공 논란으로 번진 이른바 '벚꽃(사쿠라)을 보는 모임'(이하 벚꽃 모임) 관련 의혹을 수사하라는 검찰 고발 청원에 법률 전문가 279명이 추가로 동참했다.

7일 교도통신에 따르면 일본 전국의 변호사와 법학자 279명은 전날 아베 총리와 후원회 간부 2명에 대한 수사를 촉구하는 공동명의의 고발장을 도쿄지검에 추가로 제출했다.

이로써 이 사건에 대한 고발인은 지난 5월 공동 고발인으로 참여했던 662명을 포함해 총 941명으로 늘었다.

고발인들은 매년 4월 도쿄 도심 공원인 신주쿠 교엔에서 총리 주최로 열리는 정부 봄맞이 행사인 '벚꽃 모임'이 아베 총리의 지역구 인사들이 대거 초청된 사적인 행사로 활용됐다며 수사를 요구하고 있다.

이 행사는 지난해 정치적 쟁점으로 떠올라 올해는 취소됐다.

이들은 특히 2018년 4월 아베 총리의 지역구 주민들이 참가한 가운데 도쿄의 최고급 호텔인 '뉴오타니'에서 열린 전야 행사에서 일부 참가비를 아베 총리 측이 지원했다는 의혹의 규명을 요구하고 있다.

이에 대해 아베 총리는 그간 국회 답변 등을 통해 참가비를 호텔 측이 정한 것이라며 향응 제공 사실을 부인해 왔다.

그러나 고발인들은 "아베 총리와 후원회 간부가 공모해 1인당 음식값이 적어도 1만1천엔인 것을 5천엔씩만 받고 차액인 6천엔 정도를 제공해 공직선거법을 위반(기부행위)한 혐의가 있다"고 맞서고 있다.

또 당시 모임에 참가했던 약 800명으로부터 5천엔씩 받은 것을 아베 총리 지역구인 야마구치(山口)현 선거관리위원회에 제출한 정치자금 수지 보고서에 기재하지 않아 정치자금규정법을 어겼다고 지적하고 있다.

추가 고발에 참여한 변호사들은 전날 기자회견에서 "국회에서의 책임 추궁을 통해 아무것도 밝혀지지 않았다"며 검찰 수사로 진상을 규명해 위정자에 의한 법의 경시를 애매한 상태로 놔두어서는 안 된다고 말했다.

하지만 검찰은 첫 고발이 이뤄진 지 2개월이 넘었지만 본격적인 수사 움직임을 보이지 않고 있는 상태다.

이 때문에 이번 추가 고발이 검찰 수사 방향에 어떤 영향을 미칠지 주목된다.
