(서울=연합뉴스) 박경준 기자 = 정세균 국무총리는 15일 "서울시와 경기도에서 사회적 거리두기를 2단계로 높이고자 한다"고 말했다.

정 총리는 이날 정부서울청사에서 주재한 긴급 중앙재난안전대책본부(중대본) 회의 모두발언에서 "수도권을 중심으로 코로나19(신종 코로나바이러스 감염증) 확산세가 매우 심각하다"며 이같이 밝혔다.

정 총리는 "이번 고비를 넘지 못하면 세계 여러 나라가 겪는 재유행으로 들어설 수 있는 절체절명의 순간"이라며 "수도권에서의 감염 확산을 최대한 신속히 차단하는 것이 최우선 과제"라고 강조했다.

거리두기가 2단계로 올라가면 집단감염 위험이 높은 고위험시설의 운영은 중단되며 스포츠 경기 관중 입장도 다시 금지된다.

2단계 상향은 이튿날인 16일 0시부터 곧바로 실행, 우선 2주간 유지하는 것으로 가닥이 잡힌 것으로 알려졌다.
