이란, 코로나19로 두달반 연기된 대입시험 어쩌나

정부 "더는 못 늦춰, 8월20일 실시"…학부모 중심 연기·취소 여론

(테헤란=연합뉴스) 강훈상 특파원 = 최근 이란 학부모와 학생의 최대 관심사는 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19)로 연기된 대입 시험 콩쿠르다.

한국의 수학능력시험과 같은 콩쿠르는 매년 약 110만명의 고교 3학년 학생이 치르는 대학 입학시험이다.

이란은 9월에 학기가 시작하는 학제여서 콩쿠르는 6월 초 이틀간 치러진다.

그러나 올해는 이란에도 코로나19가 심각하게 확산한 탓에 입시 일정이 어그러져 버렸다.

이란 교육부와 보건부는 고심 끝에 예년보다 두 달 반 늦은 8월 20∼21일로 시험 일정을 확정했다.

이에 수험생을 둔 학부모를 중심으로 자녀가 시험을 치르다 코로나19에 걸릴 수 있다면서 반대 여론이 높아졌다.

전국 단위로 진행되는 콩쿠르가 그렇지 않아도 지난달부터 더 심각해진 코로나19의 진원이 될 수 있다는 것이다.

이라즈 하리르치 이란 보건차관은 지난달 27일 "학사 일정을 고려할 때 콩쿠르를 더는 미룰 수 없다"라며 "수험생을 2m 이상 떨어뜨리고 최대한 많이 분산해 시험을 진행할 것"이라고 말했다.

또 코로나19 감염자나 의심 증상자는 격리된 장소에서 시험을 보게 될 것이라고 설명했다.

이란 보건당국은 시험 날짜를 또 미뤄 가을이나 겨울에 치르면 추운 계절에 더 확산하는 코로나바이러스의 특성상 학생들이 더 위험해질 수 있다는 입장이다.

올해 콩쿠르를 취소하면 모든 학년이 1년씩 사실상 유급되는 셈이 되고, 그렇지 않으면 내년에 2개 학년이 한꺼번에 대입 시험을 치르는 혼란에 빚어진다는 것이다.

대학에 진학하지 못하는 남학생은 고교를 졸업하고 1년 이내에 군에 입대해야 해 올해 콩쿠르가 취소되면 재수할 기회를 잃게 되는 것도 문제다.

하지만 올해 콩쿠르를 연기하거나 아예 취소해야 한다는 여론도 만만치 않다.

코로나바이러스 국가대책회의의 위원인 미누 모흐레즈 박사는 "몇시간 동안 실내에서 여러 학생이 모이게 되면 전염병은 빠르게 확산한다"라며 "지금과 같은 상황에서는 무조건 모이는 행사를 금지해야 한다"라고 주장했다.

모하마드 바게르 갈리바프 이란 의회 의장도 거들고 나섰다.

그는 2일 "지난주 전국적으로 치러진 석사 자격시험에서 방역 수칙이 제대로 지켜지지 않았다"라며 "지금은 코로나19가 정점인 데다 학생이 오랜 시간 마스크를 쓰고 시험을 볼 수 있는 추운 계절에 콩쿠르를 치르는 게 나을 것 같다"라고 말했다.
