브라질 코로나19 신규확진 5만명대로 다시 급증…누적 280만명

누적 사망자 9만5천명 넘어…보건부, 백신 구매 특별예산 편성

(상파울루=연합뉴스) 김재순 특파원 = 진정세를 보이는 듯했던 브라질의 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 신규 확진자가 5만명대로 늘었다.

4일(현지시간) 브라질 보건부에 따르면 누적 확진자는 전날보다 5만1천603명 많은 280만1천921명으로 집계됐다.

신규 확진자는 지난 2일 2만명대에 이어 전날은 1만명대로 줄며 진정세를 보였으나 이날 다시 5만명대로 올라섰다.

누적 사망자는 전날보다 1천154명 많은 9만5천819명으로 늘었다.

신규 사망자는 2일 541명에 이어 전날엔 561명을 기록했으나 사흘 만에 1천명을 웃돌았다.

전체 확진자 가운데 73만5천여명은 치료 중이고 197만여명은 회복됐다.

한편, 보건부는 영국 제약회사 아스트라제네카로부터 코로나19 백신 1억회분을 구매하기 위해 19억 헤알(약 4천266억 원)의 특별예산을 편성할 것으로 알려졌다.

보건부는 아스트라제네카가 옥스퍼드대와 함께 개발 중인 백신 1억회분을 구매하기로 하는 내용의 계약을 지난달 말 체결했다.

보건부는 아스트라제네카가 개발 중인 백신이 현재 임상 3상 시험 단계를 거치고 있으며, 개발이 끝나면 12월 중 1차분 백신 1천500만회분이 브라질에 공급될 것이라고 말했다.

이어 내년 1월에 2차로 1천500만회분, 3월부터는 나머지 7천만회분이 차례로 브라질에 도착할 것으로 보건부는 예상했다.

계약에는 아스트라제네카가 브라질의 의료기관인 오스바우두 크루즈 재단(Fiocruz)에 백신 생산기술을 이전하는 내용도 포함된 것으로 전해졌다.
