(서울=연합뉴스) 이영섭 기자 = 아프리카 소말리아 수도 모가디슈의 한 호텔에서 차량폭탄 테러가 발생해 최소 11명이 사망했다고 AFP통신이 16일(현지시간) 보도했다.

소말리아 정보부는 이날 모가디슈의 리도 해변에 있는 '엘리트 호텔'이 습격받아 경찰관 1명, 정보부 당국자 1명을 비롯해 11명이 숨졌다고 밝혔다.

최소 28명이 다친 것으로 전해졌다. 이와 별도로, 테러범 5명은 현장에서 사살됐다.

이번 습격은 호텔정문에서 차량 한 대가 폭발하면서 시작됐고, 테러범들은 한때 인질까지 붙잡은 것으로 알려졌다.

정보부는 치안 요원들이 4시간여 만에 호텔을 탈환하는 데 성공했다고 밝혔다.

현지 이슬람 극단주의 무장단체 알샤바브는 성명을 통해 자신들이 "순교자 작전을 통해 호텔을 장악했다"며 이번 공격을 벌였다고 밝혔다.

알샤바브는 2008년 이후 국제적으로 공인 받은 정부를 전복하고 자기들이 해석하는 이슬람 샤리아 율법에 따라 통치하기 위해 수시로 테러를 저지르고 있다.
