국회, 10일부터 기자회견장 수어통역 지원

(서울=연합뉴스) 김동호 기자 = 국회는 오는 10일부터 소통관 기자회견장에서 진행되는 회견에 수어 통역을 지원한다고 8일 밝혔다.

국회는 수어 동시통역 현장 지원은 물론, 수어 통역이 포함된 회견 영상을 국회 홈페이지에 중계·게시할 방침이다.

사전에 신청된 회견에 대해서는 모두 통역을 지원하는 것을 원칙으로 하고, 즉석에서 이뤄지는 회견도 통역사 여건을 고려해 최대한 지원하기로 했다.

수어 통역사가 나서는 첫 행사는 10일 정의당 장혜영 의원의 '장애인 참정권 보장 촉구 및 국회법 개정안 설명' 회견이 될 전망이다. 장 의원은 청각장애인을 위한 수어 통역 필요성을 지속적으로 제기해왔다.

김영춘 국회사무총장은 "수어 통역 지원을 통해 청각장애인들이 국회의 다양한 활동에 대한 정보를 쉽게 접할 수 있기를 기대한다"면서 "아직 국회 곳곳에 남아있는 문턱을 찾아내고 허물기 위해 노력하겠다"고 말했다.
