동성로서 5개월만에 1인 시위 재개…30여명 日불매운동 활성화 논의

(서울=연합뉴스) 최현석 기자 강다현 인턴기자 = 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산세가 주춤해진 대구에서 일부 시민들이 일본제품 불매 운동을 재개하고 있다.

코로나 확진자가 가장 많이 발생한 대구에서 불매 운동이 재개됨에 따라 다른 지역으로도 시위가 확산될지 주목된다.

◇ 유니클로 매장 폐점하자 ABC마트 앞에서 시위 재개

직장인 김학성(60)씨는 지난 4일 동성로에 있는 일본계 신발 편집숍 ABC마트 매장 앞에서 'NO JAPAN' 등이 적힌 피켓을 들고 일본산 불매를 위한 1인 시위를 벌였다.

김씨가 불매운동을 재개한 것은 지난 2월 코로나 확진자가 급속히 늘어나며 시위가 중단된 지 5개월 만이다.

그는 지난해 7월 불매 운동이 본격적으로 촉발된 이후 7개월여간 유니클로 매장 앞에서 시위를 벌였다. 해당 매장이 지난 4월 폐점하자 또 다른 일본 기업인 ABC마트 앞에서 시위를 재개했다.

2017년부터 작년 6월까지 한국소비자원에 접수된 일본업체 15곳 상품에 대한 구제신청 1천134건 중 ABC마트 상품이 680건으로 60%를 차지한 점 등이 시위 장소 선정에 영향을 미쳤다.

김씨는 21일 연합뉴스와 전화 통화에서 "일본산 제품 불매 운동을 1년간 진행하다 2월 코로나로 동성로에 인파가 줄고 시위 참가자들 안전도 우려돼 잠정 중단했다"며 "이달 들어서는 길거리에 사람이 많아져 우리 의지를 표출하기에 적절하다고 생각해 거리로 나섰다"고 밝혔다.

질병관리본부와 대구시에 따르면 23일 0시 기준 코로나19 대구 확진자 수는 6천937명으로 전국에서 가장 많았으나 지역사회 감염은 4일 이후 단 한 명도 없었다.

김씨가 비 오는 날 혼자 3시간이나 1인 시위를 벌이는 모습을 보고 자극받은 시민들이 속속 동참했다.

4일 시위에는 김씨를 포함, 4명이 참가했지만 1주일 후에는 하루 6~7명으로 늘었고 18일에는 13명으로 불어났다.

김씨는 "18일과 19일에는 시위 대기 줄이 생길 정도로 많은 이들이 관심을 보였다"며 "현재 30여명이 카카오톡 단체대화방에 모여 시위 활성화에 힘쓰고 있다"고 설명했다.

◇ 日불매운동 참가자 증가세…온라인서도 'NO JAPAN'

시위 참가자들은 온라인에서도 SNS 게시물 등재나 라이브 방송 등을 통해 일본제품 불매운동을 홍보하고 있다.

이들은 일본이 대한국 수출 규제 입장에 변화를 보이지 않아 캠페인을 계속해야 한다고 입을 모았다.

김씨는 "일본의 무역 보복 조치가 1년이 지났지만 경제 전쟁이 끝나지 않고 있다"며 "일본이 수출 규제를 풀어 양국 간 우호적이고 원만한 분위기가 형성되기 전까지 1인 시위를 계속할 것"이라고 강조했다.

시위 참가자인 정천복(50대 중반)씨는 "일부 시민이 우리에게 욕을 하는 등 애로사항도 많지만 일본 관광을 가는 여행객 비율, 대마도행 선박 감소 등 불매 운동 목소리가 실질적인 수치로 나타나는 게 보이기 때문에 시위에 참가하고 있다"고 전했다.

김백현(61)씨는 "일본산 제품 리스트가 있는데 길 가던 이들이 발걸음을 멈추고 관심 있게 보는 모습이 인상 깊었다"며 "30분 정도 피켓을 들고 시위를 하는 것이 고된 일이긴 하지만 음료수를 주고 응원해주는 분들이 있어 힘이 난다"고 말했다.

일본이 지난해 7월 1일 한국을 상대로 수출규제를 단행하면서 촉발된 일본산 제품 불매 운동은 한일 여객선 운항 중단, 항공편 축소 등 관광 분야를 포함해 양국 간 교류 전반에 상당한 영향을 끼쳤다.

한국무역협회와 일본관세협회에 따르면 지난 5월 일본의 대한국 수출액은 작년 5월보다 18% 급락해 11년 3개월 만에 최저 수준을 기록했다.
