(서울=연합뉴스) 김동현 기자 = 강경화 외교부 장관은 27일 외교부 청사에서 페테르 시야르토 헝가리 외교부 장관과 회담하고 양국 간 경제협력 및 헝가리 유람선 사고 후속 조치에 대해 협의했다.

외교부에 따르면 두 장관은 양국이 코로나19로 어려운 상황에서도 필수인력 교류를 위해 협력해온 점을 높이 평가했다. 헝가리는 지난 15일부터 한국으로부터의 입국을 제한 없이 허용하고 있다.

두 장관은 양국 간 교역과 투자가 지속해서 늘어나고 있는 점에 만족을 표하고, 코로나19 상황에도 이런 추세가 이어질 수 있도록 협력해 나가기로 했다.

한국은 작년까지 헝가리에 총 19억달러를 투자했으며, 이와 관련 시야르토 장관은 "작년 한국이 헝가리에 대한 최대 투자국이 되었으며, 헝가리 정부는 한국기업들의 대(對)헝가리 투자가 더욱 늘어날 수 있기를 바란다"고 말했다.

시야르토 장관은 헝가리 측에서 추진 중인 헝가리 유람선 사고 추모조형물 제막식에 유가족이 참석할 수 있기를 희망한다고 했다.

이에 강 장관은 헝가리 측이 지난 5월 29일 사고 1주기 추모행사를 개최한 데 이어 추모조형물 제막식을 추진하는 점에 감사를 표하고 철저한 사고 책임 규명을 위한 지속적 관심을 당부했다.

강 장관은 또 세계무역기구(WTO) 사무총장 선거에 출마한 유명희 통상교섭본부장에 대한 각별한 관심과 지지를 요청했다.

코로나19의 세계적인 확산 이후 타국의 외교장관이 한국을 찾아 강 장관과 대면 회담을 한 것은 지난 10일 아랍에미리트(UAE) 외교장관 이후 두 번째다.
