문학동네 '사적대화 인용 소설집' 수정본으로 교환해주기로

"부주의·불찰로 상처받은 피해자·작가·독자에 깊이 사과"

(서울=연합뉴스) 이승우 기자 = 도서출판 문학동네는 김봉곤 소설 '그런 생활'에서 지인 여성과 메신저에서 나눈 성적인 대화 내용을 동의 없이 그대로 인용했다는 논란과 관련, 이 소설이 실린 '제11회 젊은작가상 수상작품집' 미수정본 전체를 수정본으로 교환해주기로 했다고 16일 공식 홈페이지를 통해 밝혔다.

교환 대상은 대화 내용이 수정되지 않은 5쇄까지 발행본 7만부이다.

김봉곤은 실제로 지인 여성과 나눈 카카오톡 메신저 대화 내용을 소설 '그런 생활'에 인용한 것으로 뒤늦게 알려져 파문이 일었다.

이 여성은 '그런 생활' 속 'C누나'의 대사는 자신이 메신저 대화에서 김봉곤에 했던 실제 발언을 "그대로 베껴 쓴 것"이며, 자신의 요구로 추후 원고는 수정됐으나 수정 이유는 고지되지 않았다고 주장해왔다.

'그런 생활'은 지난해 계간지 '문학과 사회' 여름호에 처음 발표됐고, 김봉곤은 이 작품으로 문학동네에서 주는 젊은작가상을 받았다. 김봉곤의 소설집 '시절과 기분'(창비)에도 이 소설이 실렸다.

이 여성은 약 두 달 전에 이들 출판사에 공식으로 수정을 요청했고, 이를 받아들인 문학동네는 6쇄부터, 창비는 3쇄부터 해당 부분을 수정했지만, 수정 사실과 이유는 별도로 공지하지 않았다.

문학동네는 교환 조치와 함께 앞으로 출간할 11회 젊은작가상 수상작품집 수정본부터는 수정 사실도 명시하겠다고 밝혔다.

문학동네는 "피해자분께 깊이 사과드린다"면서 "문학상을 운영하고 수상작품집을 출판하는 문학동네로서는 책임져야 할 마땅한 부분이 있다"고 말했다.

아울러 "사안의 엄중함에 비해 그간의 대처가 소극적이었던 점에 대해 독자 여러분께 사과드린다"고 덧붙였다.

문학동네는 "문학동네의 부주의와 불찰로 인해 상처받으신 피해자분께, 그리고 작가들과 독자들께 다시 한번 깊이 사과드린다"고 말했다.
