뉴욕증시, 기업 실적 부진 부담 하락 출발

(뉴욕=연합뉴스) 오진우 연합인포맥스 특파원 = 뉴욕증시에서 주요 지수는 28일 기업 실적 부진 등의 영향으로 하락 출발했다.

오전 9시 44분(미 동부 시각) 현재 뉴욕증권거래소(NYSE)에서 다우존스 30 산업평균지수는 전장보다 116.83포인트(0.44%) 하락한 26,467.94에 거래됐다.

스탠더드앤드푸어스(S&P) 500 지수는 전장보다 8.08포인트(0.25%) 내린 3,231.33에, 기술주 중심의 나스닥 지수는 45.26포인트(0.43%) 하락한 10,491.01에 거래됐다.

시장은 주요 기업 실적과 경제 지표, 미국 부양책 논의 및 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산 상황 등을 주시했다.

이날 발표된 기업 실적이 대체로 부진해 투자자들이 조심스럽게 접근하고 있다.

다우지수에 포함되는 대기업 맥도널드와 3M이 시장의 예상에 못 미치는 순익을 발표했다.

두 회사의 주가는 개장 전 거래에서 2% 이상 하락하며 지수 전반에 부담을 줬다.

다만 제약 대기업 화이자는 예상보다 나은 실적과 개발 중인 코로나19 백신의 3차 임상시험 착수 발표 등에 힘입어 3% 이상 상승세를 나타냈다.

이번 주에 애플과 아마존을 비롯해 170개가량 S&P 500 지수 포함 기업의 실적 발표가 이어지는 만큼 투자자들의 신경이 곤두서있다.

미국의 신규 부양책 관련해서는 기대와 우려가 혼재된 상황이다.

미 정부와 여당인 공화당은 전일 국민들에 대한 추가 현금 지급을 포함한 1조 달러 규모의 신규 부양책을 발표했다.

핵심 사안인 실업 급여 관련해서는 9월까지 연방정부가 주당 200달러를 추가 지급하고, 10월부터는 총 실업 급여를 이전 소득의 70%로 제한하는 방안을 내놨다.

현재는 일선 주의 실업 급여에 더해 연방정부가 매주 600달러를 추가 지급하고 있다.

민주당이 실업 지원을 줄이는 데 대해 반대 입장을 굽히지 않고 있는 만큼, 실업 급여 추가 지급이 종료되는 이번 주말까지 협상이 타결될 수 있을 것인지에 대한 불확실성은 여전하다.

월스트리트저널은 공화당 내부에서도 재정적자를 키우는 추가 부양책에 대한 견해차가 크다면서, 실업 보험 지원 등 시급한 방안만 우선 처리하고 나머지는 9월로 논의를 연기하는 방안도 거론된다고 보도했다.

코로나19 확산에 대한 우려는 다소 진정되는 양상이다.

CNBC는 플로리다와 텍사스 애리조나 등 집중 발병 지역의 신규 환자 증가 속도가 7일 평균 기준으로 감소하고 있다고 전했다.

화이자와 모더나 등이 개발 중인 코로나19 백신의 3차 임상에 돌입하는 등 백신 개발에 대한 기대도 유지되고 있다.

앤서니 파우치 미 국립알레르기·전염병연구소(NIAID) 소장은 이르면 10월에 백신이 개발될 수 있다는 기대도 내비쳤다.

연방준비제도(Fed·연준)는 이날부터 이틀 일정으로 연방공개시장위원회(FOMC)를 연다.

연준은 이날 성명을 통해서는 당초 오는 9월 말까지로 예정됐던 메인스트리트 대출 등 각종 비상 대출 프로그램의 운영 기간을 12월 말까지로 석 달 연장한다고 발표했다.

뉴욕 증시 전문가들은 미국 부양책 협상의 불확실성을 우려했다.

스파르탄 캐피탈 증권의 피터 카르딜로 수석 시장 경제학자는 "실업 보험 혜택을 줄이는 것은 정치적인 싸움을 촉발할 것이고 시간이 걸릴 것"이라면서 "이는 시장 심리에 부담을 줄 것"이라고 진단했다.

유럽 주요국 증시는 혼조세다. 범유럽지수인 Stoxx 600지수는 0.01% 내렸다.

국제유가는 하락했다. 9월물 서부텍사스산 원유(WTI) 가격은 전 거래일보다 0.91% 하락한 41.22달러에, 브렌트유는 0.09% 내린 43.37달러에 움직였다.
