오스트리아, 슈퍼·은행서 마스크 착용 다시 의무

(제네바=연합뉴스) 임은진 특파원 = 오스트리아에서 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확진자가 다시 증가하자 정부가 슈퍼마켓 등에서의 마스크 착용 의무화를 재도입하기로 했다.

로이터 통신에 따르면 제바스티안 쿠르츠 총리는 21일(현지시간) 기자 회견을 열고 오는 24일부터 슈퍼마켓과 은행, 우체국에서 마스크 착용을 다시 의무화한다고 밝혔다.

그는 "일상생활에서 갈지 말지를 선택할 수 없는 곳들이 있다"며 "따라서 우리는 이들 장소에서 마스크 착용을 다시 의무화하기로 결정했다"고 설명했다.

이는 오스트리아에서 코로나19 신규 확진자 수가 최근 증가한 데 따른 조치다.

5월과 6월에는 일일 확진자 수가 50명 미만이었으나, 이달 들어 세 자릿수대를 보이고 있다.

앞서 오스트리아는 코로나19 발병 초기 공공장소에서의 마스크 착용을 의무화했다가 확산세가 주춤하자 지난달 15일 대중교통과 병원, 약국 등을 제외한 곳에서 의무화를 해제했다.

쿠르츠 총리는 또 이러한 증가세의 주된 이유로 종교 시설에서의 집단 감염과 발칸 반도 등 해외 유입 등을 꼽았다.

그러면서 예배 규모를 축소하고 확진자 발생 시 종교 시설의 문을 닫을 수 있도록 하는 한편, 발칸 반도에서 들어오는 입국자에 대한 검역을 강화하겠다고 덧붙였다.
