"원격수업에 교육격차 확대…기초학력 관리 대상 학생 늘려야"

교육부, 포스트 코로나 시대 교육복지 방향 논의…다음 달 발표

(세종=연합뉴스) 김수현 기자 = 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산으로 비대면 수업이 늘어나면서 기초학력 미달 학생은 물론 중간 성적을 지닌 학생들도 공부에 어려움을 겪는 등 교육격차가 커지고 있다는 진단이 나왔다.

반재천 충남대 교수는 31일 정부세종청사에서 교육부 주최로 열린 '포스트 코로나 교육 대전환을 위한 6차 대화'에서 발제자로 나서 "코로나19로 원격·등교 수업이 병행되면서 기초학력이 부족한 학생 관리에 어려움이 있다"며 "중간 능력 집단 학생도 공부에 어려움을 겪는다"고 밝혔다.

반 교수는 "기초학력 진단 검사 후 기초학력 경계선(커트라인) 위에 있는 학생이라도 체계적인 관리가 필요하다"며 "경계선 위 학생을 위해 기초학력 학습 내용을 자율적으로 점검할 수 있는 사이트에서 학습하도록 지도해야 할 것"이라고 제언했다.

이어 "학교가 기초학력 미달 학생을 집중적으로 지도할 수 있도록 인력과 예산을 지원하고 교대와 사대의 교원 양성 과정에서 기초학력 지도 방안을 수업에 포함해야 할 것"이라고 덧붙였다.

또 다른 발제자인 김성식 서울대 교수 역시 "코로나19로 학교가 폐쇄되고 빈번하게 휴교가 발생하면서 수업 결손이 광범위하게 발생하고 있다"며 "사교육 등 대체 교육 기회가 부족한 사회적 취약계층에 부정적인 영향이 더 클 수 있다"고 지적했다.

이어 "모든 단위학교에 학생별 교육 취약성 유형과 성격에 따라 지원 내용과 프로그램을 선정하고 지역의 각 기관을 연계해 전문분야별로 통합 지원할 수 있는 '학생성장지원팀' 운영을 활성화해야 할 것"이라고 제언했다.

교육부는 이날 전문가와 현장 교원, 교육 복지사 등이 참석한 가운데 포스트 코로나 시대 교육복지 정책 방향을 논의했다.

교육부는 학습 격차 해소 방안 등을 담아 2학기 대비 방안과 중장기 교육 혁신 방안을 다음 달 중으로 발표한다.
