벨라루스서 여성 야권 대선후보 대규모 유세…반정부 집회 방불

수감된 남편 대신 출마…루카셴코 대통령 "여성은 대통령직에 부적합"

(모스크바=연합뉴스) 유철종 특파원 = 다음 달 대통령 선거를 앞둔 옛 소련 국가 벨라루스에서 19일(현지시간) 야권 대선 후보 유세를 겸한 반정부 집회가 열렸다.

러시아 인테르팍스 통신에 따르면 이날 수도 민스크의 '우호공원'에서 열린 야권 후보 스베틀라나 티하놉스카야(38)의 유세에는 최대 7천명의 야권 지지자들이 모였다.

유세에는 금융인 출신의 빅토르 바바리코의 선거운동본부 대표와 벨라루스판 실리콘 밸리로 불리는 '첨단기술파크' 창설자 발레리 체프칼로의 부인 베로니카 체프칼로 등도 참석했다.

바바리코와 발레리 체프칼로는 앞서 현지 중앙선거관리위원회에 의해 후보 등록이 거부당했다.

벨라루스의 갑부 은행가로 대선 도전을 선언했던 바바리코는 지난달 중순 자신이 운영했던 은행의 돈세탁·탈세 등에 관여한 혐의로 당국에 체포돼 조사를 받고 있다.

이번 대선에서 알렉산드르 루카셴코 현 대통령의 가장 유력한 상대로 꼽히는 티하놉스카야는 역시 대선 출마를 준비하다 당국에 체포된 반체제 유명 블로거 세르게이 티하놉스키의 부인이다.

티하놉스키는 사회질서 교란 혐의로 지난 5월 말 체포돼 수감돼 있으며 티하놉스카야는 남편을 대신해 출사표를 던졌다.

티하놉스카야는 이날 유세에서 "정부는 티하놉스키, 체프칼로, 바바리코 등을 후보로 등록시키지 않았다"면서 이들이 정권에 위협이 되기 때문이라고 지적했다.

그러면서 "이 정권은 실제 위협이 업신여김과 공포 속에서 사는데 지쳐버린 국민들에게서 나온다는 것을 이해하지 못하고 있다"고 목소리를 높였다.

당국의 허가를 받은 이날 집회는 경찰과의 별다른 충돌 없이 끝난 것으로 알려졌다.

앞서 지난 14일 민스크에서 야권 성향 인사들의 대선 후보 등록 불발에 항의해 벌어진 시위에선 200여명이 체포됐다.

벨라루스 중앙선관위는 지난 14일 대선 후보 등록을 마감하면서 루카셴코 대통령을 포함한 5명의 후보가 공식 등록됐다고 밝혔다.

하지만 다음 달 9일로 예정된 대선에서 루카셴코에 대적할 만한 실질적 경쟁 상대는 없는 것으로 알려졌다.

이에 따라 지난 1994년부터 26년 동안 옛 소련에서 독립한 벨라루스를 철권 통치해온 루카셴코 대통령(65)이 6기 집권에 성공할 것으로 예상된다.

루카셴코는 티하놉스카야의 입후보에 대해 "대통령직은 여성이 맡기에는 너무 힘든 일"이라고 폄하한 바 있다.
