(이스탄불=연합뉴스) 김승욱 특파원 = 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령이 러시아 해군에 극초음속 순항미사일과 핵 추진 수중 드론이 배치될 것이라고 밝혔다.

로이터 통신에 따르면 푸틴 대통령은 26일(현지시간) 상트페테르부르크에서 열린 해군의 날 기념식에서 "해군을 위한 현대식 무기 체계 구축 사업이 성공적으로 완료되고 있다"며 이같이 말했다.

이어 "극초음속 타격 시스템과 수중 드론 등 세계적으로 대등한 기술이 없는 디지털 기술이 널리 보급되면 함대 특유의 이점과 전투력이 증대될 것"이라고 덧붙였다.

푸틴 대통령이 언급한 극초음속 타격 시스템은 '지르콘' 순항미사일을 의미한다.

수상함에 장착하는 지르콘 순항미사일은 최고 마하 8(9천792㎞/h)의 속도로 비행해 기존 미사일방어 체계로는 사실상 요격이 불가능한 것으로 알려졌다.

수중 드론은 2018년 러시아 국방부가 공개한 '포세이돈' 핵 추진 드론을 뜻한다.

포세이돈은 항속거리가 사실상 무제한이며 핵탄두를 탑재할 수 있는 것으로 알려졌다.

푸틴 대통령은 지르콘과 포세이돈의 배치 일정을 구체적으로 밝히지 않았으나 실전 배치가 머지않았음을 시사했다.

이어 "해군의 능력이 성장하고 있으며 올해 40척의 새 함선을 확보할 것"이라고 덧붙였다.
