(서울=연합뉴스) 이유미 기자 = "180석(더불어민주당) 대 100석(미래통합당)이 되니까 의석이 너무 기울어져서 오히려 타협이 잘 안 되는 구도가 됐습니다."

박병석 국회의장은 17일 제72주년 제헌절 경축 행사를 앞두고 김형오 임채정 박광용 박희태 등 전직 국회의장들과 환담하는 자리에서 여야 의석수 격차에 따른 어려움을 토로했다.

원 구성 파행과 개원 지연에 대한 이유를 설명하는 과정에서다.

현재 정확한 의석수는 민주당 176석, 통합당 103석이다. '180석 대 100석'은 의석수를 대략 언급한 것으로 보인다.

박 의장은 "역설적으로 의석 분포가 팽팽했던 4당 체제 때가 제일 합의가 잘 됐다"라며 "세력이 균열이 가 있을 때 우리가 타협이 잘 됐다고 생각을 한다"고 언급했다.

이어 "뒤늦게 출발했지만 앞으로 여야가 양보해서 합의하고 타협하는 국회가 되도록 최선을 다하겠다"고 말했다.

이어진 5부 요인 환담에서도 비슷한 이야기가 나왔다.

김명수 대법원장, 유남석 헌법재판소장, 정세균 국무총리, 권순일 중앙선거관리위원장 등 5부 요인을 비롯해 통합당 김종인 비상대책위원장과 주호영 원내대표, 민주당 김태년 원내대표 등이 참석한 자리였다.

박 의장은 "여야 의석 분포가 좀 차이가 나니까 오히려 합의되기가 더 어려운 것 같다"며 "국회에 있던 사무처 간부가 저에게 '가장 어려운 시기에 의장을 맡았다'고 하더라"고 말했다.

이어 "김 비대위원장과 주 원내대표가 앞으로 협의할 수 있도록 협력해주길 바란다"고 당부했다. 두 사람은 이에 대해 별도의 답을 하지 않았다.
