광복회 "백선엽 칭송한 에이브럼스 소환해야"…트럼프에 서한

(서울=연합뉴스) 정빛나 기자 = 독립운동가 후손 단체인 광복회가 14일 최근 별세한 백선엽 장군을 '영웅'으로 칭송한 로버트 에이브럼스 주한미군 사령관을 소환하라는 내용의 서한을 도널드 트럼프 미 대통령에게 보냈다.

김원웅 광복회장은 이날 서한에서 "최근 에이브럼스 사령관이 한국 국내의 민감한 정치사회적 논쟁에 개입해 내정 간섭적 행태를 보임으로써 한국국민의 분노를 사고 있다'"며 에이브럼스 사령관이 한미우호에 '치명적 행태'를 보였다고 주장했다.

김 회장은 "백선엽은 일제 시 전범국가 일본에 빌붙어 수많은 독립군과 조선민중을 학살했고, 제2차 세계대전 후 한국전쟁을 전후하여 수많은 민간인을 학살했다"고 주장했다.

이어 "한국에서는 현재 동양판 나치전범 문제인 친일잔재청산의 이슈가 정치사회적 논쟁으로 부각되고 있다"며 "외국군 사령관이 한국 국내 정치적 논쟁에 개입하는 것은 부적절한 행태"라고 지적했다.
