삼천리그룹 일가 잇단 자사주 매입…65년 이어온 동업 경영

(서울=연합뉴스) 조재영 기자 = 최근 삼천리그룹 대주주 일가가 자사주를 잇달아 매입해 업계 주목을 받고 있다.

19일 삼천리그룹 공시에 따르면 이번에 지분 매수에 나선 건 삼천리그룹 고 이장균 창업 회장의 장손자인 이은백 사장을 비롯해 현재의 이만득(64) 명예회장의 세 자녀, ST인터내셔널(구 삼탄) 유상덕(61) 회장과 아들인 유용욱 실장 등 6명이다.

이들은 최근 수차례에 걸쳐 13만3천686주의 삼천리[004690] 주식을 매입했고, 이 회장 일가와 유 회장 일가의 지분율은 35.67%로 변동됐다.

이에 대해 삼천리그룹 관계자는 "현재 기업 가치보다 저평가된 삼천리 주가를 부양하기 위해 대주주로서 책임경영의 일환"이라고 설명했다. 일각에선 3세 경영으로 전환하려는 움직임이 아니냐는 시각도 있지만, 주식 매입량이 적은 데다 현 회장의 나이 등을 고려할 때 아직은 이르다는 분석이 나온다.

이번 자사주 매입이 주목받은 것은 삼천리그룹의 '동업원칙'이 지켜져서다. 올해로 65주년을 맞은 이 그룹은 지금까지 2세 경영을 이어오며 이 회장과 유 회장 양가 지분을 5대5로 유지하고 있다.

이 회장과 유 회장 일가는 지난달 29일부터 7월2일까지 양쪽이 똑같이 각각 2만1천668주(0.54%)를, 이달 3∼10일에는 3만3천929주(0.84%)를 사들였다. 지난 13∼15일에도 각각 1만1천246주(0.28%)를 매입했다.

삼천리그룹은 1955년 이장균, 유성연 두 선대회장이 어떤 비율로 투자하든 이익은 똑같이 나누고, 한쪽이 반대하는 사업은 절대로 하지 않는 동업원칙을 세우고 공동 창업했다. 이 원칙이 2세까지 대를 이어 지켜지고 있다.

2010년에도 삼탄(현 ST인터내셔널)이 계열사 지분 조정을 위해 보유하던 삼천리 주식을 해소하는 과정에서 두 가문이 주식 수를 똑같이 맞추기 위해 단 1주를 장외에 매물로 내놓아 화제가 되기도 했다.

이씨와 유씨 일가는 그룹 핵심 계열사인 삼천리와 ST인터내셔널의 지분을 똑같이 분배해 갖되, 독자 경영을 하며 동업체제를 이어가고 있다.

이 회장이 이끄는 삼천리는 연탄에 이어 도시가스, 집단에너지, 발전사업 등 다양한 에너지사업을 전개하는 종합에너지기업으로 성장했다. 외식, 자동차 딜러 등 생활문화 사업으로 신규 영역을 확장하고 있다.

유 회장의 ST인터내셔널은 유연탄 자원개발 사업을 하다가 최근에는 에너지 투자·관리회사로 사업 방향을 전환했다.
