싱가포르, 코로나 확진자 5만명 넘어서…이번 주 백신 임상시험

(방콕=연합뉴스) 김남권 특파원 = 싱가포르에서 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 누적 확진자가 5만명을 넘어섰다.

26일 일간 스트레이츠 타임스 등 현지 언론에 따르면 싱가포르 보건부는 이날 481명이 추가로 코로나19 확진 판정을 받으면서 누적 확진자가 5만369명으로 늘었다고 밝혔다.

1월 23일 첫 코로나 확진자가 발생한 뒤 6개월여만에 5만명을 넘었다.

신규 확진자 중 지역감염은 5명이었고, 해외 유입 사례는 4명이었다.

나머지 대부분은 기숙사에서 생활하는 이주노동자들이라고 보건부는 설명했다.

싱가포르 정부는 전날 코로나19 환자의 90% 이상을 차지하는 기숙사 거주 외국인 이주노동자 30여만명에 대한 전수조사가 8월 초 끝날 예정이라고 밝혔다.

한편 싱가포르에서는 이르면 이번 주에 코로나19 백신 임상시험이 시작될 것이라고 스트레이츠 타임스는 보도했다.

임상 시험은 듀크대-싱가포르국립의대 및 미국의 아크튜러스 테라퓨틱스가 공동 개발한 코로나19 백신을 다양한 연령대의 108명의 건강한 지원자에게 투여하는 방식으로 진행될 예정이라고 신문은 설명했다.

'루나-코비드19'로 명명된 이 백신은 전 세계적으로 사람을 대상으로 시험이 진행됐거나, 임상시험이 허용된 백신 25개 중 하나라고 신문은 전했다.
