(카이로=연합뉴스) 노재현 특파원 = 지중해 연안의 국가 레바논은 30일(현지시간) 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 확산을 억제하기 위한 봉쇄 조처에 들어갔다고 현지 매체 '데일리스타'와 dpa통신 등이 보도했다.

전국에 있는 상점과 은행, 다른 사업장들이 이날 아침부터 문을 닫았고 약국, 슈퍼마켓 등 필수 영업장만 문을 열었다.

이번 봉쇄 조처는 다음 달 3일 밤까지 이어진다.

이 기간은 이슬람권에서 소, 양 등을 도축하고 고기를 이웃과 나누는 명절인 '이드 알아드하'(희생제)에 해당한다.

레바논에서는 최근 코로나19 확진자가 급증하면서 당국에 비상이 걸렸다.

레바논 보건부는 29일 전국에서 코로나19 누적 확진자가 4천205명으로 하루 사이 182명 늘었다고 발표했다.

신규 확진자 수는 레바논에서 올해 2월 21일 첫 감염자가 보고된 후 가장 많다.

최근 일일 신규 확진자 수를 보면 24일 147명, 25일 175명, 26일 168명, 27일 132명, 28일 141명 등으로 100명을 계속 넘고 있다.

일일 신규 확진자 수는 5월 중순 한 자릿수로 줄었지만, 봉쇄 조처 완화 등의 영향으로 재확산세를 보였다.

인구가 약 680만명인 레바논은 코로나19 사태로 경제 위기가 악화했다.

레바논은 연간 국내총생산(GDP)의 170%에 이르는 국가부채와 레바논 파운드화 가치 하락, 높은 실업률 등으로 국민의 경제적 고통이 크다.
