'황제노역' 허재호 18일 뉴질랜드서 귀국…내달 재판 출석 예정

(광주=연합뉴스) 장아름 기자 = 일당 5억원의 '황제 노역'으로 논란이 됐던 허재호(78) 전 대주그룹 회장이 오는 18일 귀국해 다음 달 조세포탈 혐의 사건 재판에 출석할 예정이다.

광주지법 형사11부(정지선 부장판사)는 15일 302호 법정에서 특정범죄 가중처벌 등에 관한 법률 위반(조세) 혐의로 불구속기소 된 허씨의 3차 공판을 열었다.

뉴질랜드에 거주 중인 허씨는 이날도 불출석했다.

지난 재판에서 "신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19)으로 인한 항공편 운항 중단이 풀리면 재판에 출석하도록 준비하겠다"고 밝혔던 허씨의 법률대리인은 항공편을 예매한 서류 사진을 재판부에 전달했다.

공소사실에 대한 피고인의 입장과 뉴질랜드 현지에서 소환장을 수령한 사진 등도 함께 제출했다.

허씨 측은 오는 18일 입국해 2주간 자가격리를 한 뒤 다음 달 19일 예정된 재판에 출석할 예정이라고 밝혔다.

허씨 변호인은 "다음 재판 출석에는 무리가 없어 보이지만, 허 전 회장이 기저질환이 있어 최근 광주의 코로나19 확산세를 걱정하고 있다"고 말했다.

공소사실에 대해서는 "공소시효가 지났다"고 주장했다.

허씨는 2007년 5∼11월 사실혼 관계였던 H씨 등 3명의 명의로 보유한 대한화재해상보험 주식 매각 과정에서 양도소득세 5억여원과 차명 주식 배당금의 종합소득세 650여만원을 내지 않은 혐의로 불구속 기소됐다.

허씨는 H씨가 주식의 소유자라고 주장했으나, 검찰은 H씨 소재가 확인되지 않자 참고인 중지 처분하고 수사를 중단했다가 2018년 말 재개해 지난해 7월 허씨를 기소했다.
