코스피 시총 비중 0.5% 이상 종목 4년여만에 46→32개

"2016년 인공지능 이어 최근 코로나로 쏠림 두드러져"

(서울=연합뉴스) 김태종 기자 = 우리나라 유가증권시장에서 시가총액 비중이 0.5% 이상을 차지하는 종목 수가 4년여 전보다 3분의 1가량 줄어든 것으로 나타났다.

2016년 인공지능 알파고의 등장에 이어 최근 신종 코로나바이러스 감염증(코로나19) 사태를 겪으면서 특정 종목에 대한 '쏠림' 현상이 가속화하고 있다는 분석이다.

26일 금융정보업체 에프앤가이드에 따르면 지난 6월 말 기준 코스피 종목 중 시가총액 비중이 0.5% 이상인 종목은 모두 32개로 집계됐다.

2015년 말에는 46개 종목이었는데, 4년 반 만에 14개 종목(30.4%)이 줄어든 것이다.

최근 10년간 시총 비중 0.5% 이상 종목 수는 2015년(이하 12월)을 정점으로 감소했다.

2016년에는 41개, 2017년에는 38개로 줄어들었고 2018년에는 39개로 늘어났다가 지난해 말에는 다시 36개로 감소했다. 그리고 올해 6개월 만에 다시 4종목이 탈락했다.

시총 비중이 1% 이상인 종목 수도 같은 기간 변화를 보였다.

2015년과 2016년 각각 22개에서 2017년에는 24개로 소폭 늘어났고, 2018년에는 다시 22개가 됐다. 이어 지난해에는 20개로 줄어들었다가 지난 6월 말에는 18개가 됐다.

0.5% 이상 종목이 전체 시총에서 차지하는 비중은 2015년 64.74%에서 지난 6월에는 67.53%로 증가했다. 종목 수는 46개에서 14개가 줄어들었는데, 비중은 오히려 더 늘어난 것이다.

정명지 삼성증권[016360] 투자정보팀장은 "2015년부터 최근까지 두 개의 큰 이슈가 있었는데, 2016년 알파고 등장으로 인공지능에 대한 관심이 커지면서 메모리 반도체주의 랠리가 나왔고, 최근 코로나19로 바이오, 인터넷, 게임주의 비중이 커지면서 쏠림이 커졌다"고 설명했다.

시총 상위주의 비중이 커지면서 과거에는 비중이 0.5% 정도에 걸쳐 있던 종목들이 0.5% 밑으로 대거 떨어졌다는 것이다.

실제 삼성전자[005930]의 시총 비중은 2015년 말 15.45%에서 지난 6월 말에는 23.06%로 크게 증가했고, SK하이닉스[000660] 비중도 1.86%에서 4.53%로 대폭 늘었다.

특히, 최근 코로나19로 바이오와 배터리, 인터넷, 게임 등의 시총 비중이 급격하게 커지면서 쏠림 현상은 가속도가 붙었다.

삼성바이오로직스[207940]는 상장 첫해인 2016년 말 비중이 0.79%에 불과했으나, 6월 말에는 3.75%로 4배 가까이 증가했다. 네이버도 2015년 말 1.81%에서 3.21%로 배 가까이 비중이 늘었고, 셀트리온[068270] 역시 0.81%에서 3.02%가 됐다.

엔씨소프트[036570]는 5년 전 0.39% 비중에서 1.43%로 3배 가까이 증가했다.

이런 쏠림은 강세장이 아닌 회복장에서 나타나는 특징으로, 코로나19 사태가 종식되고 경기가 정상 궤도에 오를 때까지는 지속할 것이란 전망이 나온다.

정 팀장은 "경기 지표가 좋아지면 경기에 민감한 기업들의 실적이 좋아지면서 주가가 전방위로 상승해 특정 군에 대한 쏠림이 줄어든다"며 "아직 그런 상황까지는 쉽지 않아보이는 만큼 코로나가 끝날 때까지 쏠림은 있을 수밖에 없을 것"이라고 예상했다.
